Thank you bb_mom! My ID told me if i wish to slot in a free standing dishwasher then best to get one that is as low as possible. But after looking around, seems like they are all 85cm high. If it’s built in, at least i can opt for a F&P single dishdrawer? Dilemma…

RE: All about Dishwasher
Hi all
Am trying to decide between a built in dishwasher and a free standing one that i can slot in, under the counter top.
I am worried about cockroaches if i opt for a free standing one but i understand that it will be easier to remove and repair or change to a new dish washer if it breaks down. And it’s alot cheaper!
Built-in is alot neater and no worries about cockroaches! But i can expect that it will be a nightmare if it breaks down. Need advice! Can’t find many reviews or comments on dishwashers. Looks like it’s still pretty unpopular in Singapore. I had one when i was in the US and now i cannot live without it. -
RE: All About Competitive Swimming
Hi, i wish to seek advice from experienced parents here.
My K1 boy started to learn swimming last year in July. Now the coaches are asking if i am keen to send him to another branch to train competitively. I don’t really understand. He has just mastered the freestyle. He can’t tread water and he is struggling with breaststroke. I told them like that can go train?? They said he has the potential, can be pushed.
How does this whole thing work and how do they identify kids who have the potential to train competitively? The training hours are so scary. 2 hours every evening for 4 weekdays and another 2 hours on Sat. -

Hello Wendy...Have you tried going through the balloting history? The link is on the homepage. After viewing the balloting history, you will know if you stand a chance with the schools that you've mentioned

Need to take some time to go through the legend. For West Grove, there was balloting conducted for phase 2B in year 2010 for SC within 1km. But after that no more. How do you know? You just refer to the legend. If no colour, means no balloting lor. There was balloting for Westwood in phase 2C for SC within 1km this year. It’s pretty popular too.

Pros and cons really. I also listen to friends until i feel confused. Some say never go for schools that are too new because alot of stuff will be in the teething stage and the kids have no senior to look up to. Some say new ones are good, so that the teachers can concentrate on the new lot and the toilets are very clean LOL! Some prefer more established ones because everything is stablised already, the students are not guinea pigs, the school has a clearer direction etc. Yeah, i used to reside in Jurong West. Good to have a backup school, just in case. I’m cracking my head over the backup school too. I’ve never been lucky when it comes to balloting.

Provided you are selected for PV? I’m not sure if Westwood conducts interviews. stressed Do you have a backup school if you fail balloting in phase 2C?

Westwood is the newer school right? I think both Westwood and West Grove conducted balloting for SC within 1km in phase 2C this year. I know West Grove has started accepting PV applications for 2010 kids liao. Not sure about Westwood.

Aiyoh, also noone reply you. St Nicks 2B very tough also. Did you see the balloting history? Any catholic can try their luck with St Nicks too as long as they reside within 1km of the school. Anderson is also a popular school, also need balloting under phase 2C for SC within 1km. Maybe see if you can try to get a place in Anderson under 2B. Odds are really slim for St Nicks, whether it's 2B or 2C. I can't remember if i'm right but i think St Nicks doesn't accept PV. But what the heck, you can just call and enquire? Do you have any school in mind if you end up in phase 2C supp?Hi, I'm a silent reader for some time.. very lost and vexed.. Hope to get advice from parents here..
I live within 1km from both CHIJ St Nicholas and Anderson. Intended to apply for PV at St Nicholas but heard chances of getting in is slim and when that happens, I might get nowhere.
I thought if I failed 2B phase with St Nicholas, I could try my luck with Anderson at 2C phase. Am I wrong? What should I do? -

Aiyoh, noone reply you. You need to access the link to the balloting history. Found on the home page at the bottom.
Poi Ching and St Hilda’s are both very popular. I know of parents who moved but were balloted out under phase 2C St Hilda’s. If you check out the history, both confirm need to ballot under phase 2C. Maybe you try and see if you can PV at Poi Ching? There’s no balloting for Poi Ching so far under phase 2B. If I’m you i will get a couple of schools for plan B. A school that you can confirm get a place in under phase 2C supp.
I understand your stress. I’m feeling the heat too man.
