Only 1% will be selected for the GEP programme so I don’t think my boy will be selected. If it helps, he doesn’t read a lot but he likes to read Roald Dahl. Young Scientists and Smart Mathematicians because they are like comics haha.

Thus, I'm a bit scared and I think it is also good if my boy is not selected for GEP, he is too lazy and I can't imagine the load of work he has to do if he really manage to get into GEP, lol.
Thanks for your candid sharing! 😂 I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who is scared about the extra workload haha!

Sharing what I know.. Yesterday my boy didn't really wanna talk about it but suddenly today he said he remembered some math qns and proceeded to show me on the board.
He was saying there were quite alot of picture diagram qns, not like SA paper, at least his school did
n't really give them much diagram type of qns. There was a folding paper qn he remembered. Basically paper is folded twice and a small arc being cut off (illustrated) so how would it look like after it's totally unfolded. This was an mcq qn. He explained to me his answer and then I could see what he meant.
Next, he drew out a four part diagram with arrows and triangle pointing in different directions. So u have to guess the last pattern. This one he explained to me but I catch nothing. I don't see the correlation, and he was a little exasperated that I don't see it. I think boys are more inclined towards understanding these sort of qns, (just my opinion don't bash me please.)
And then he drew out another diagram of circles with dots triangles arrows and what nots.. And he said he duno and is this morse code or what? Hahaha we had a good laugh this morning. And that there's a word problem much like those that comes out in harder SA papers. That's all, anyway it's all done and dusted. Onward to consistent prep for SA2. Then we can celebrate and play!

Thanks for sharing in such detail. I went to try to talk to my kid again. Went in a round about manner to ask gently, so did this come out etc. The kid too smart for me. \"Mummy, stop asking me.\" And went back to Archie comics. Lucky there's this forum, or I wouldn't know what happened. I also didn't know they are given sample questions and reading time till Beloved3 mentioned.

Same here. My boy said nothing. Tried asking and he just said it was tough. Then went back to play 😂 Don’t think he will be selected but overall, a good experience!

And I think best is don’t prep for 2nd round. If you prep the child and he/she can’t get in, it will be demoralizing for the child.
I didn’t prepare my boy and not planning to also. I already feel very shocked that he actually passed round 1 😂 If he can pass round 2, it’s a bonus. If cannot, it’s okay also, we’ll just move on :celebrate:

      Hi everyone...

Does anyone here know when the kids would find out if they are offered a place in GEP program if successful? Would it be before the end of October? We were already preparing to seek a transfer of school but now wondering if we should wait for the outcome of round 2
I read that the results of round 2 will be released in early November through the school.

      Hi all

I read in another thread that all SCs have gotten into Compassvale. Anyone here who has applied for Compassvale? I'm also considering the studentcare. Just wondering if it'll be too tiring for the kids to attend studentcare after half a day in school.

Hi Butterwaffles, my girl will be in Compassvale Pri next year. But I am not putting her in student care. Let her spend the other half of the day at home. Anyway, I heard they don't do much except doing their homework.

Ahh i see. I have no one to jaga my boy after school so no choice have to go student care. If can complete the homework in the student care, it's already a big help to me as i can only fetch like 6.30pm earliest as i need to fetch his younger sister too. Which class is your girl in?? My boy is in 1-7 :rahrah:
