    • RE: Q&A - P3 Math

      Daddy:
      Hi,

      Problem sum question need help.
\"David has 5/8 as many stickers as Vincent. They have a total of 494 stickers.
      a) How many stickers must Vincent give to David so that both of them will have the same number of stickers?
      b) How many stickers does Vincent have in the end?

      How to draw the model?

Is the quest said, David has 5/8 stickers and Vincent has 8/8 stickers??

      Thanks...

      David has [][][][][]
      Vincent has [][][][][][][][]
      Total 13[]
      494 stickers divide by 13 = 38 stickers

      Vincent has 38 x 8 = 304
      David has 38 x 5 = 190

      a) 494 divide by 2 = 247
Therefore Vincent must give David 247-190=57 stickers

      b) Vincent has 304-57=247 in the end.

    • RE: Q&A - P3 Math

      Daddy:
The answer is 18 boys. My daughter did not write down the correction completely. So that i also do not understand. I need someone for help...Thanks.

With your answer, it makes sense.

Since each girl ate 3 wings and each boy ate 4 wings, to make the number equal, 4 girls equal to 3 boys equal to 12 wings

      [g][g][g][g]=[b][b][b]

Boys ate 36 more means there are 9 more boys.

      [b][b][b]
      [b][b][b]
      [b][b][b]

With these 9 boys, there are 21 children left. To balance the rest, note that 4 girls = 3 boys = 7 children altogether. That means 21 divide by 7 = 3.

      That means
      [g][g][g][g] and [b][b][b]
      [g][g][g][g] and [b][b][b]
      [g][g][g][g] and [b][b][b]

This means that there are 12 girls and 9 boys in the 21 children. Therefore, there are 9 + 9 = 18 boys.

      Hope my working is correct.

      Daddy:
      Hi,

I have another question to ask.
\"30 children attended a party. Each girl ate 3 chickens wings and each boy ate 4 chicken wings. The boys ate 36 more chicken wings than girls. How many boys attended the party?\"

Need help. P4 math so difficult !!!! :?

      Thanksss alot
I think there's something not correct in the question. Since each boy ate 1 more chicken wing than girl, there will be 36 boys based on the sentence \"The boys ate 36 more chicken wings than girls.\". But the total number of children is only 30. Doesn't make sense.

      Daddy:
      HI,

      Any model? Not so understand...
I'm not sure if this is correct.

Five boxes represent the 5 vases
      [][][][][]

since you need additional $42 to buy all 5 vases, the next model is 3 boxes and the other 2 boxes should be $12+$42. Why $12? Because when you buy 3 vases, you have $12 left.

      [][][]$12+$42

      Hope this helps.

    • RE: About the STELLAR program

      radiantmum:
I wonder ... how do kids improve their grammer with Stellar programme?

Don't get me wrong. After what I've read so far, sounds like a great programme in cultivating reading interest and most importantly no textbooks - excellent!
There is a workbook for each story. In fact, the spelling words and dictation is based on the story too. As for compositions, the topic is usually something related to the spelling words or dictation. For example, the story on Mr Gumpy's outing might require the child to write a compo about a trip to the bird park.

      Hi,

I have a math question need help?

\"Mrs Wong was short of $42 if she bought 5 similiar vases. So she bought 3 such vases and has $12 left. What was the cost of each vase?\"

      Thankss.
      Daddy :?
If buying 3 vases still have $12 left, then buying additional 2 more vases will need $12+$42=$54. That means each vase cost $27.
