RE: St Hilda's Primary
Yeah, I was expecting CCA only in P3.
My girl has to recite Tang Shi as part of her MT CA - ζ₯ζ, and ζΈΈεε. I managed to get her to memorize both in 2 weeks. She asked me the meaning of the poems, and I managed to piece together an answer for her for ζ₯ζ, but couldn't manage for ζΈΈεε past the first line  Thank God for Google...
She also has to do a written paper for MT with the works.
CA format for her is like an exam, comes with Paper 1 (composition) and Paper 2 (grammar, vocab, blah blah blah) for English. As for Math, she'll be tested on all she learnt in the first half of the year (there was no CA1) plus whatever they've done for H2. -
RE: St Hilda's Primary
Alright, let me get the ball rolling.
My girl is in P1. Will start her revision for CA2 this week. Was telling my hubby this is worse than cramming for an exam myself
As for CCA, she's in Dance Club and recently just joined Guzheng class as well. Both upon her request - she comes back with form, I sign, pay, she join.
Anyone able to advise which are the more \"popular\" CCAs in SHPS? -

[quote=\"foreverj\"]hi titank, can i borrow your thread? i m thinking of getting those knee high table which has foldable legs. i've seen such portable tables being used during a trial class with berries. anyone happened to know where i can get them and roughly how much it cost? thanks!
This sounds like those rosewood korean dining tables. I've seen them on sale before at the korean supermarket on Tras St. Perhaps they may have it at Square 2 (novena) also, there's a korean speciality shop on the 2nd (or was it 3rd?) floor... -

RE: Where to buy picnic mat?
Going on a picnic over the weekend? Wow, sounds like fun!!
You can get them from hypermarts like Giant, Carrefour. My family uses a ground sheet - can get from shops that sells army stuff (there are many shops like that above the food centre in beach rd) . This kind is bigger than usual picnic mats and you can get pins to pin down the corners so they don't flap in the wind. You can get hammocks frm there too... your kids would love it
Daiso also has some cute cartoon ones for kids. These are really small. I got them for my kids to sit on while they build sand castles....
Have fun! -
RE: Is English or Mandarin more important?
tamarind:
Well said, tamarind!
Since we are all ethnic Chinese, we should learn Chinese not because it has any economic importance or not. We should cultivate a love of the Chinese language in our kids, simply because we are ethnic Chinese. Our grandfathers, or great grandfathers were from China. We still celebrate Chinese festivals and retain Chinese traditions.
Just curious, how many of you parents out there have children who can converse in dialect? I feel that the younger generation are mostly English speaking only, bilingual at best.
Personally, I find it a pity that kids don't get exposed to dialects much these days. Dialect forms part of our identity & culture.
I request my parents to converse with my kids in Cantonese, as I have no other regular avenue to expose them to the dialect. My hubby tries to teach them simple Hokkien (his dialect) occasionally. My eldest (now P1) had been speaking fluent Cantonese since ard 3yrs old, in addition to English and Mandarin. -
