• RE: Where to buy spectacles for kids?

      Lilyisamom:
My optometrist at Paya Lebar sells very reasonable glasses and he is very good with kids and recommendations. Kids range glasses starts from $98 inclusive of lenses but is dependent on your kid's prescription. I use to make glasses for my kids from him for around $200 for those swissflex material glasses but not the swissflex brand and it is equally good! Lasted for a few years. But as my kids myopia have been increasing quite fast, he recommended OrthoK to slow down the myopia progression and it worked! For the past 1 year of OrthoK, my kids myopia did not increase at all and I am very please with his service and professionalism and genuine care for my kid's eyes!

Where in paya lebar? Shop name please

    • RE: All About Home Addresses

You can always try... someone I know rented out their condo but STILL USED the condo address they rented out to apply for the famous school at Bukit Timah and got in! The school found out about it but still let the girl study in the school... So you better have a damn good reason on hand for the school to buy the reason...
Hi, what about I genuinely own the unit near the school and leave it empty/weekend house but we stay in another house further away?

      Is that allowed?

I think u will need to make it look like u are living there somehow. Not an empty house or with tenants. But if further away, your kids need to wake up earlier right? The point of home school distance priority is so that the kids can be closer to school. U should at least try to stay there.

In my case, \"There\" means within 1 km. \"Further\" means within 2 km. We own and live in a landed property within 2 km, also own a condo within 1 km. If we continue living in the landed property, and terminate our condo tenant's lease and leave it empty for at least 30 months after the registration of primary school, can that work?

Similarly, can we rent a condo within 1 km of school and only dorp by after school or use the condo unit sporadically while still living in our landed house that is within 2 km?
HAHA... you can always try! Because I know someone who did that last year at a branded school at Bukit Timah... And the school found out about it. But bought their story and still let the girl study in the school!

I have an existing property which I rented out currently. Can I still use this address to apply as its within 1km of the school Or do I need to move back to qualify?

    • RE: Man gets two weeks' jail for lying about address for daughte

Then why did that school still accept this other student (another case i know) even though they do not stay at the address they registered? The address of the property they own but rented out? So unfair to parents who genuinely stay within 1km of that mission school!

      agree!

      sembgal:
I know of a friend who live just so near that \"oh so heavenly girls' school\". She was deprived of a place during 2013 P1 registration.

There are those who live near the branded schools but couldn't get in. Whereas compared to others who live in neighbourhood condos, they just need to rent a place within 1km of the branded schools and they are the one who can hold their heads high up to say that their DDs are in those branded schools.

The loophole is big, big beyond repair unless there is a clause stated for the number of years of occupany, the details of properties bought, house electricity bill to show address. Well, these are some suggestions to close up the loophole.

So can we use the address of the place we rented OUT and register for the school for whatever reason? If school found out, can the kid still stay in the school?

if she stays in the school… then the 2 weeks jail is worth it! because she gets to study at that SXXS at bukit timah all the way… her daughter in future gets to study there too!

quote="janet88"]the girl should be removed from the school. in a way, she will learn that it is wrong to lie. the press will have a way to find out the identity of her father.
story gets more interesting when what we knew about the case is based on what the media has fed us! but this lady Zeyz Ong let out so much more information that we do not read in the papers… hahaha… trying so hard to find excuses to justify the case!
