Is the lady a current school teacher that left her teaching career with moe to teach privately?

My sis told me she had a conversation with her and her being a kps, she tried to ask her Qs. Somewhere along the line, my sis got doubtful about her credentials because she told my sis that p5 needs to learn letter writing format and do long comprehension Qs. She doesn't know her MOE syllabus!

Actually it's quite common nowadays whereby school teachers doesn't know their work else we wouldn't have to invest so much on our kids.

But to leave the kids in a lurch and irresponsible is something which I cannot accept. Charactor is so important when comes to nurturing your little ones. Oh well..I'm glad the teacher is gone. Hope that nobody is hurt.

I think you are talking about the same teacher as my sister. My sister went this afternoon to send her kids to her place for tuition and nobody answered.

Tried knocking the door for very long and the neighbors told her teacher M has left. She called her and she didn’t pick up her call! OMG!!!
She paid 13 lessons to her upfront and she just left without a word. Is this a tuition scam? She’s fuming mad!!

What is the preschool teachers pay like compare to NIE teachers?

      Depends on qualification.
Their pay is about $1200~$1800 (before CPF).

    • RE: Comparing Math Enrichment Programmes

Perhaps your child needs motivation? My kids used to dislike studying. Finds lessons boring. Always hovering around 50-60s. No matter how I tried to encourage, motivate and even resort to bargaining. It just did not worked. I got my current tutor’s contact through my colleague. Within 6 months, both my kids improved.

My P4 DS got all band 1 and maths was 94%. When he took back the paper I thought the school teacher had counted wrongly.

Till today I am still amazed and curious about what the tutor had done.

I’ll pm u my tutor’s contact Dmanor. Wish you all the best!
i used to have the same conviction

now ..., i feel that i am \"wavering\". why? simply cause it isn't an absolute scoring - eg, you score >X%, you will get in. rather, it is RELATIVE to your peers. putting financials & extremely \"gifted\" kids aside, i feel that one will be put in an advantageous position if one has been exposed to some of the questions type.

(i feel the name of the program is somewhat \"misleading\" - a more accurate one would probably be \"high ability / advanced\" program / students.)

having said all the above - all compliments to students in the GEP program ... it isn't an easy program and you are top1% of your cohort. being top1% in any context is in itself very outstanding!

can anyone describe the Pri4 GEP program in a typical term (for example) ?

Since the program will select the top 1% of the cohort, in a sense this is 'relative', isn't it?

Seriously, I think parents should not send their children for any preparatory program. Even if your child is not selected due to lack of 'exposure to the question type', if he/she is truly gifted/high ability, he/she will definitely shine through eventually. Case in point, not all top and sucessful scholars are from GEP.

Take heart, if you read thru the forum here, you will find many parents have shared that they did not send their children for any GEP prep class and yet, their children surprised them and were selected for GEP. Cheers!

      haha, its not right!
some of my friends sent their kids to those preparatory program \"secretly\", they still said \" I didnt prepare...\" until today even we found out later stage!
LOL! If you want, you can PM me for GEP preparation classes. I know of a place which conduct GEP preparation classes 🙂
