I'm new here. WOuld really appreciate what is life like for your child who attended GEP in their P4 and beyond. And which school did they attend ?

My hubby and myself are actually trying to \"prepare\" ourselves in case sonny is able to go GEP next year.

( This because a lot of his teachers and church teacher told us, he very smart, if he can go GEP, should let him go .... )

My child is in P3, and so far, according to my observations and what my child had said. There are a lot of science activities to help him understand, and there are only just a few sheets of worksheets given. And the fact that they really do their science very fast ! Within 1 term they had finished their textbook on Diversity.

We struggle to catch up with their pace of teaching ! Now, my child is way … behind his school syllabus in doing his follow up work for his science !

My child just trf to NVP this year. And so far, I’ve had positive feedbacks and experience with the form teacher so far.

After reading the forum, it seems to be there are a quite a few angry parents in NV, mainly because of the netbook and English textbook issues. I do understand that these are costs and money involved.

However, I’d appreciate any feedbacks from other parents about the experience of their children on the usage of the netbooks and whether their children English language had indeed improved. I’m one of those who looked for results, if the children are learning and these tools had proved their worth in delivering results, I’d b more than happy !

My son had a friend who’s also studying in the school, and the mummy had exclaimed that their class had been using the netbook a lot for their projects and school work, which I find it fair, since the school insisted all students had a netbook. It would then served their purpose in buying the netbook.

However if the teachers had not been using the netbook,. then it would have been very unfair to insist that students buy them. Maybe it’s the teachers fault ?

Does any of your child always in a big hurry to finish the
paper that you gave him / her ?

My son , p2 this year is able to finish a Maths or english paper ( the normal kinda paper ) in 30 mins - 40 mins ! He however will need an hour to finish
a challenging paper.

However, what I'd like to teach him is to make full use of the 1 and a half hours to pace himself in doing the paper and checking them.

During his p2 exams, the teacher only pick up their paper at the end of time. So he'll just play w his stationery while waiting for teacher to pick up the paper ! :whut:

Can anyone share yr experience how you get your child to pace themselves, in doing their papers ?

I nearly vomitted blood telling my son he needs to write
sentences in his maths problem sums so that the marker knows what
are the working about. There is no head nor tail in the problem solving ! :lightrod:


However he claimed that the teacher only requires them to write
working as in

10 x 2 = 20 , 20 divide 2 = 10

The volume/ etc etc is 20 cm/ litres etc etc

Anyone has children in p2 this year. Could you kindly share your experience w me ? Thanks !
