    • RE: Looking for transfer maid

      Hi,

I have a Myanmar helper who may be available for transfer in August, as my 3 year old son prefers the previous helper.

This current helper speaks basic English. She cooks quite well and loves kids. Her housework is alright. She needs quite a lot of guidance in the beginning though.

      Anyone interested PM me please.

Letting go of my Indonesian maid who has been with my family for 2 years because we prefer somebody with the same diet. Her contract is up. If anybody wants to take her please PM me. I hope to release her before end of Feb.

HI there, my maid might be able to do that, because her last employment in Singapore before me, was to take care of a terminally ill elderly. After he passed on, the previous employer let her go and transferred to me. She even gave her recommendation over the phone. My home is fast paced and with a very meticulous grandmother with high standards of housework. This Indo maid is more suitable for a slower paced household. Let me know?

Hey, i think my current maid, who is my first helper, is not suitable for my family. She is cheery most of the time, but we cannot get used to her cooking (or her lack of cooking skills). Grandma thinks she is too slow doing household chores (which Grandma is excellent at), and due to religious constraints, we need to cater to her no-pork diet as well. I think we prefer somebody who will enjoy pork ribs with us 😉 Anybody wanna consider? 🙂

    • RE: At what age to potty train?

A friend believes that potty training should be done from 2 years old onwards when the child can understand and communicate better to the parent. She thinks if done before 2 years old, I would be wasting my efforts. What do you think? Btw, my son is now around 16 months and I’m thinking of starting him on potty training.

reminded me of mine..maybe put the toys up at sofa/low tv console/coffee table etc..hope it will get him start standing to reach..my one dd likes to hold on to these and walk around before the real walking comes.. can play with kiddo by holding both his hands at his standing position..that's how how another dd suddenly discovered her own ability to walk and got excited. Some are early but some will be later, the one thing I noticed is once they started, all will happen very fast..jiayou to your son!
      Thanks for encouraging!

That is a good sign then! For reference, my friend whose child who was not walking yet at 18 months, had very weak legs with no strength in them. Generally inactive & reluctant to even crawl. Only had arm strength (ie upper body). Upon PD check after 18m, turned out to have cerebral palsy.

Your boy sounds fine cos he’s cruising a lot. To entice him to let go of the cruising support & walk more than 2-3 steps each time, try this: sit a distance away from him, hold out a favorite toy (or favorite food!) *just* beyond his reach. Use your voice to encourage him to grab the object. He will start to release the support & walk more steps towards you.

Praise praise praise his efforts to walk! And sneakily increase the distance heehee.

Generally parents with girls will hold their hands to “help” them walk (build leg muscle strength). Girls prefer the human connection. But generally boys (mine too) didn’t want to hold my hand. He preferred having a “challenge” that he could strive to reach for, on his own. That made him feel more “in control”.

      Hope this helps![/quote]
Will try these out. Thanks for suggesting!
