• RE: Enrichment courses for pri and sec school kids?

You are right. U need to match the program to the needs of yr child. Its not 1 size fits all. With so many options, at least when i researched Mind champ their program is research based. More assured its gd for my kid. Will check out their PSLE program.
:goodpost:

i totally agreed with you. I am glad that I found a centre which customise their classes to cater to the needs of my kids and their programs helped my kids to improve in both their results and attitude. You can pm me if you are interested to find out more.

      Hi mummies,

i find that to improve on writing skills, the children have to expose to various themes instead of sticking to their comfort zone like adventure story for boys, happy ending etc.

My kids improved on their writing and creativity after joining constantly in the writing competition which has been ongoing for a year. Introduced by some mummies and would like to share.

    • RE: Tuition / Enrichment at Secondary level

      mummy of three:
My eldest DC, all the classmates got tuition. If no tuition will lose out.

      true.

my DD recommended our tutor to one of her classmates recently, she used to score ard 50s.

After attending classes with my DD for about 3 months, her classmate scored full marks for her CA1.

My DD told me her classmate was in a dazed for a couple of min after she took back her results. She could not believe that she actually scored full marks for her maths.

If the child is talented, with the right help they would really excel.
I think when kids see their parents involve in the learning process, they will be interested too. I let them involve in helping me do everyday chore and explain to them simple science from there.

      learning=fun=learning!

yes I agreed. I conducted experiements with my kids at home and they love it. I feel that the way to learn science is through hands on

Truly agreed! Hand on allow them to feel and experience the concept behind it.
Me too! Totally agreed. Science is everywhere. Just need a little more effort 😂

My tutor not school teacher. I don't believe in getting school teachers, some more so expensive. If school teachers are good we also don't need let our DC go tuition.

    • RE: GEP 2013 - Class Starting P4 in 2014

      Reversi:
Since your DC will be starting on the Mystery Story concept unit for English next year, it would be good to start introducing him/her to mystery stories if he is an avid reader. 😄 Personally I'm not too fond of mystery stories (don't have the patience to read all the twists and turns) but the Sherlock Holmes short stories are really a must-read.

Lois Lowry is especially good at writing dystopian novels such as The Giver. Shan't give the story away by posting a synopsis though. 😉 Some schools may be using it for lit next year but I think majority will be sticking with A wrinkle in time which is a wonderful sci-fi book. And if the syllabus hasn't changed, look forward to acting out a court scene discussing the book! 🕺

Thanks for sharing! Would definitely borrow from NLB for my younger one.

      Any good recommendation for Sec?

    • RE: how to slim down

mummies, the only way to slim down is to exercise correctly and eat clean. Exercise doesn’t mean walking on the treadmill for 30mins. You have to bring your heart rate to 80% of max heart rate for about 30min, inorder to see significant results. Not forgetting woman tends to store fats on our body so it’s good to do some resistant training.

Dieting is not the right way to slim down. In fact it’s doing more harm as it slows down your metabolism. Unless you want to live the rest of your life eating carrots and celery sticks.

Actually, it’s not the weight that matters, it’s the outward appearance that we are targeting. Lean and Tone bodies.

Not going to bore you ladies to death. You can pm me.
