jtoh:My DD1 was in NYPS P4 when my DD2 started Pei Chun P1. I tried transferring DD2 to NY, but did not really push hard, I was afraid that she might not be able to cope in NY. Spoken to Mdm Heng once, she said waiting list for Dragon babies very long. Of cause, mission unsuccessful. DD2 still in Pei Chun now, DD1 had moved on to secondary.bebebub:Is it a guarantee that if kor kor is transferred to Nanyang due to GEP, mei mei will get a successful transfer after P1? Wouldn't the school still look at their waitlist and pick n choose the candidates? It's afterall a very popular school. Just want to caution that there may be a possibility that the siblings may not attend the same school. Just my 2 cents.
Transfer is not guaranteed, although it'll be considered favorably. It also depends on the vacancies available.

it may be free now .... but also don't know when you upgrade to adult member need to pay S$1k or not
NatTif Mummy, does your DD need to pay $1K to join junior alumni? If no need, it's really good to join now than to incur $1K later.dimsum:

My DD said they were told to join the junior alumni last few days of school, my grandchild confirm has a place there, unless policy change
To me, paying S$1k to be in phase 2A1 is worth every cent of it. yes, i am kiasu, kiabo, and kiaboh[/quote]Not my problem 20+ yrs later, be it 1K or 10K. I only poor old grandma -
RE: Nanyang Primary
My DD just finished P6 last yr, she has friends from various classes/levels of all sorts of family background, alot are from rich families. We are from humble family background, but I have never heard of her complaining being snob at during her 3 yrs' stay there. One even opened her hse in King's Rd for the kids to eat, rest & study before CCA at 4pm (I was most grateful). One of her good friend is daughter of a minister. Maybe she is lucky, but seems that the kids are mostly well brought up.
I told my DD before she started studying there that if she is being look down upon due to her family background, then that person is no friend of hers. She has met none of that sort. She and her class/schoolmates remain close contact even after graduation.

RE: 2010 DSA(Direct School Admission)

Ifthe child is rejected in the DSA; he will be stressful and disappointed and might even affect next week oral. Parents, please support your child if the result is -ve and look forward to SCORE in the coming PSLE.
My niece is rejected by both schools she applied while the rest of the girls in her class are either accepted by NYGH or her dream sch- RGS. She was crying her eyes out last few days. It's so cruel for a 11-12 yrs old child. Pls prepare your child mentally for the worst before hand. -
RE: Compare RGS vs NYGH
verykiasu2010:
I prefer RGS. Reason : it took my DD1 2 hrs to reach home after CCA when she was in NYPS, I do not wish to see her suffer for another 6 yrs. It's easier to travel to RGS. I let her made the final decision, DD1 chose RGS last year.Okay may be I should started another \"wicked\" thread.
If your girl has offers both from RGS and NYGH, which will you choose ? -
RE: Pei Chun Public
Hi hotspurs,
I live further up north.
My DD2 car-pool for P1.
P2, our maid & her class mate’s maid took turns to travel with them to sch, the children travel home together.
P3 my maid travelled with her till TPY station, she travelled home herself.
P4 this yr- no more maid, she travels with DD1 who drops off in Orchard station. She comes home on her own. Sometimes she will travel with sch/class mates living in north area.
For myself, I do not like the Peichun sch bus drivers I have spoken to so far, so will not engage their service. The sch bus vendors will be there during the P1 Adm Day in Nov, can check with the bus drivers then.
I also hesitated when registering my DD2 for P1 few yrs back. Then, if I don’t, she might ask why jie jie can go Peichun, she is in another sch. Rather let them start off from same platform, then, where they ended up, is their own hard work. -
RE: Nanyang Girls' High School [*IP]
Hi, xxjustakidxx, angelee998,
They will ask things like : if other schs accept you as well, which sch will you choose to go?
If I remember correctly, last yr, abt 3 person interviewed 1 student, including the principal. Don’t know whether will they change this yr. Go to the sch website & chk for details while applying for DSA. During sch open hse last yr, they have a talk for GEP parents & students.
The level of confidence the student shows during the interview is important, I think. My DD passed the first interview, another of her friend with abt same grade have to go thru a second interview. End up her friend scored better than my DD in PSLE. -

Hi! My daughter is applying for NYGH thru DSA and I would like to know her chances of being accepted. My girl is a GEPer in RGPS and is a higher chinese student. Her percentage score for SA1 for Chinese is 86.75 (GEP paper) and the rest of her subjects are around 80% also. Thanks
Chances very high. Last yr they only interviewed the GEPers with less than 80% aggregate. My DD was accepted via DSA under GEP.
This yr new principal, don't know whether will change, just go for the open hse this weekend to check. -

Old girls & boys- must join the alumni 1 yr before registration.ixora:
Thanks for the info. Doing my homework now. My boy will only enrol in 2012. BTW, being old girl . does it mean we are of higher band, and do not need to do PV ? I am very blur and confused. :?
Hello ixora & strawberries!
Welcome to the site.
Being an ex-student, yes you can register under phase 2A (2) without doing PV. As jce advised, the official website of PCPS has all the info and even the links to MOE on the criteria, the relevant documents to produce for P1 registration. You should find the website rich with info and photos +++ too. -
RE: All About Life Without Maids
Hi all,
Thanks for suggestions & concern. My gals are 13 & 10, both very pampered by the maid for the past yrs. I am slowly adjusting, organising, planning & fastening my pace. Right now, I want to go thru this ‘withdrawal syndrome’ phase first by oursleves before considering of tingkat meal & part time maid. All of us at home need to be more independent & responsible, that’s one reason why I am not hiring another.
