For those oversubscribed 2CS schools, the unsuccessful ones will be posted by MOE to another school with vacancies. It could be 3km, 4km, 5km or 6km away? Then won't the children suffer from the travelling time from Mondays to Fridays?
I have just updated the Phase 2C(S) article https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/2023-p1-registration-phase-2cs/ with the latest numbers. -

I think at Primary 5 or 6 age, they are very aware of the consequences of their PSLE results, aware of their friend's wealth due to birthday celebrations, CNY house visits to collect red packets, HDB v.s. Condo v.s. Landed without pool, Bungalow with pool, etc.
Actually, the kids themselves do not care whether their school is “branded” or not. They only care whether they can make friends & whether the teachers are nice (canteen food nice is a bonus). In other words, a welcoming school environment puts the child at ease.
-

Easier to sweet talk to young children.
\"We must define a good school from the perspective of the child. If a school meets the needs of the child, it is a good school - never mind if it is not popular or branded. Conversely, I have seen students who went to popular schools and were miserable.\"

I think they have long realised that convincing parents is not an achievable mission.

RE: Are All Primary Schools The Same?

I saw an online article that many parents want their children to enter popular/famous primary schools because it is very difficult for a primary school to produce MANY academically strong PSLE scorers.
Competition is a truth of life... there is no life without competition. Some try to mitigate challenges by \"eradicating\" all signs of challenges. Eg. making PSLE scores a hush-hush affair, removing exams, etc. They probably do it out of concern for our kids, but are these really good strategies, or will they kill off the very reason why Singaporeans are enjoying prosperity as fruits of our dedication to competition? I'm just thankful that SEAB still holds a high standard in ensuring that our children is measured decently enough, unlike in some European countries which were pandering to the wishes of many. Every time people complain about how difficult the PSLE Math exam is... I have a mixed feeling of sadness and happiness. I feel sorry for the parents, and yet happy that we are still true to our standards.
Why? Primary school children come from all walks of life. Enrollment into a primary school has absolutely zero link to the K2 child's academic ability. There is no entrance test to do BEFORE enrolling into a Primary School. Priority phases include the child's parents' alumni links, the child's parent's employment (e.g is a staff of a Pri Sch), child's parent's volunteer hours, the child has an elder sibling who is a former student, etc. Everything is/are thanks to the parents or the Kor Kor/ Jie Jie. Or even thanks to the parent's financial ability to purchase or rent a house within 1KM to earn higher chances of a ballot.
Enter Secondary School, JC, Poly, University all need to see the student's academic grades, CCA achievements, leadership, character, etc. All these are thanks to the child's OWN achievements and merit.
So, how to enter a good Secondary School? Have good PSLE results. Hence, let the game begin... -

They need to drum up the comms and publicity for this famous statement. Convince the parents.
MOE failed to convince all parents that every school is a good school. -
RE: 2023 P1 Registration Exercise for 2024 In-take
Many new BTO estates are built near certain primary schools. Shouldn’t MOE have expected the application rates to shoot to the stars and hence plan in advance how to mitigate or lessen the impact of parents’ disappointment?

This is a sensitive topic that many will try not to answer if given a chance.

I can tell you that many parents still unaware of this moving to Tengah news. Just like how certain popular schools historically need to ballot for SC < 1 KM at Phase 2C yet still got parents >2KM still want to try try their luck at 2C. :rahrah:
ACSJ is not the one moving to Tengah. ACSP is.
Which is why i’m also wondering like floppy, why did the <1km folks pick ACSP over ACSJ? GEP status still more important than future kids/grandkids having to travel to Tengah?
