funfantastic4:You may wonder why I'm not teaching my own gal. I found that when you teach your own kid.....you have a certain expectation over them and that deprives you of your patience. So I decided......let the teachers or enrichment classes handle them.....and I'll just sit tightly and be the good parent. actually, the parent is the best tutor for your child. That is, if you persevere and control your own emotions, and manage your expectations. You will find that the rewards are well worth the effort. You can view this as a bonding process. There will be tempers flaring, but if that obstacle is overcome, the bond between you and your child will be much stronger. It is only through adversity that strong bonds are made.once you hit P3 and above, the child needs to understand the different hueristics, how to recognize the different category of problems and which heuristic to use. Of course, you will need to have a strong grasp of the fundamentals, ie. how to add improper fractions, what is a fraction, etc...
