Personal Reasons like \"I want my kids to wear the same school uniform as me\" just have ZERO value in debates that are related to shaping national policies that affect the masses.


Someone like their kids to enter the same university as them. So their kids should be entitled to priority? Don't forget, these graduates played a part in putting the universities on the world map too.

We should not forget that the masses are made of individuals, many of whom do value the \"I want my kids to wear the same school uniform as me\". And institutions value that too.

We should separate the issue of the value of alumni to schools from the issue of blanket priority for alumni. I contend that there is value for schools to continue receiving children of alumni. But I do not agree with the blanket priority given to alumni.

I agree that some \"recognition for alumni\" is acceptable.

hence, I suggestion balloting with alumni getting the most number of slips giving them unfair advantage over others.. :evil: If 3 slips not enough, make it 4 slips.. :evil:

Simple suggestion:

After P1, remaining places divided P2A 33.3%, P2B 33.3%, P2C 33.3%.

Unutilised P2A places (if any) divided equally between P2B and P2C like it is now.

A child of an alumni who is also a PV/clan or church member/community leader can have 3 bites of the cherry.

Or how abour after Phase 1, limit P2A to a max of 60% of total intake. If somehow take up for Phase 1 is already 60% or more, then P2A, 2B & 2C get equal share of the remaining seats.

By allowing P2A to go up to 60% (after Phase 1) instead of 2A having equal share with P2B & 2C is to be inline with the current policy which reflects contributions from alumni are valued more than volunteers at 2B.

ps. all my children already in Primary school.

1. do away with affiliation to sec sch - then we will see how many alumni still interested in putting their child in the old school despite the distance to be travelled.

2. focus on making each school a good school by investing in the education of teachers-to-be and making continuous education of teachers compulsory.

3. set up a centralised testing system for school tests and exams.

4. set up a resources sharing centre, make it compulsory for each teacher to contribute, penalise those teachers who give substandard contributions.

5. rotate school teachers among schools.

Yes, standardize children to enter secondary school based on psle results.

Thus remove all forms of DSA, and that's what I deem fair.
