he goes to the anchorpoint branch. it’s twice a week. each session is however long the child takes and yes, they will collect the next set of worksheets til the next time they go in. the instructor is quite young but she is patient and soft. i’m ok with her because anyway either me or my dh will sit with him when he does his work.
Nope, no creativity at all. But i didn’t expect it to be. my goal was just to start him off somewhere because although i knew my math, i didn’t know where to start and have absolutely no patience for teaching. we were out of the country for a couple of years and i just wanted him to get used to the idea of sitting down and concentrating for that 15, 20 min.
I tried the M&Ms for + - but he ended up eating a lot of candy! LOL… so did not work at all.
And really, that is it for the day. After that, it’s outdoor play the rest of the afternoon, weather permitting. Or to the mall. Or cartoons and toys. Whatever he liked, we would do it. That’s his reward.
So he gets the creativity from there. Not Kumon practise.
That’s why I cut down the number of pages when we came back, from 10 to 5 because 5 was what he was doing. -
Hi nightlone, I am thinking of anchorpoint too and doing once per week instead of 2. But the centre manager discourages. What is your take?
My son is in full day cc and has other homeworks. Twice weekly can b taxing. The advantage of gg to the centre twice will facilitate instructor’s monitoring and doing other classroom activities. Is it true?
Which level is yr child at now? -
I just received Primary School Education Preparing Your Child for Tomorrow book from my child’s kindergarten today. Lots of updated infos and registration details in this book.
Hope all of your kids born in 2007 have received the book too. -
Hi mommies..

i think that for full benefit, you should try going twice as recommended because of the reasons you listedHi nightlone, I am thinking of anchorpoint too and doing once per week instead of 2. But the centre manager discourages. What is your take?

the way that they instruct (they don't call it teach) also contributes to their understanding. i think kumon's not only about doing worksheets. It's about the discipline, the concentration and the thinking.
My son's in full day cc too. So we arrange for someone to pick him up at school after half day on tuesday, rest a bit, then go to kumon. after that, he can go to ikea to play. he only has kumon reading and math and berries, so it works for us...
LOL as for level, i have to go back and see his worksheets. i never really go and monitor that. But just as a gauge  , he is doing 3 digits subtraction and reading the long passages... -
