" For one reason or another, after O levels, students, if eligible for both schools will choose VS first and those who end up in TJ are those who cannot make it to VS. So I am really expecting my parents, relatives to question my choice of TJ over VS/VJ."
This year is the first batch of 6years IP for TJC.
No one knows 6 years later which school will be better. If you think TJC is more suitable and most importantly your son likes the school, why not ?
Last year my dd insisted to choose TJC even though I preferred the other. I think she has made a right choice. Just to share with you… -
My DD only chose to DSA to one sch; TJC… The sch met our criteria.
Yes, she scored high enough to qualify for the other elite Schs and qualified for EESIS… But no friend nor relative questioned her choice.
End of the day, it is our belief that it is not so much the school that produces the results, but the child’s own effort.
I do think the choice has been right too. -
very much appreciate if anyone out here let me know when the dsa result will be out? thank you

Last year, they notified students for interviews only after National Day (interviews were conducted mid Aug, during PSLE oral days). Final results out only on 31/8, via letters.

DSA interviews seem to have started today. Saw some students with their parents just now when I went to pick up my daughter.

TJC is one of the top JC. Last year is the first year to offer IP track. I would have choose TJC if we stay in the east.My DD only chose to DSA to one sch; TJC... The sch met our criteria.

Does he prefer co ed or boys' school? The answer will help you to make the choice. After all, both are good schools.I am mother of P6 boy and am trying to decide whether DS should go to VS IP or TJC IP. I have sort of made up my mind that if he is accepted by both for DSA, we will go for TJC IP.
Problem is, VJC is currently ranked higher, their results for A levels seem to be stronger, school is newer and the kids also seem to have more fun. However deep in my heart, I feel that TJC IP is more suitable, the IP programme is more organised and the school has a more nurturing environment and homely feel. The kids in TJC are also at least a 250 T-score as they do not do DSA sports as opposed to VS where there is a larger spectrum.
I am just worried that I have to answer a whole barrage of questions if my boy does well at PSLE as to why I am not sending him to the perceived better schools.
I went through the 'elimination of schools' process, if I take out the girls' schools and SAP schools which DS is not eligible, I am left with RI, ACSI, VS/VJ, and TJ. I am not keen on RI as I told DS that his happiness is more important to me than any pride I can have if my boy is in RI, and I think that kids in RI are generally not a happy bunch. If DS goes to RI, I will have to work extra hard on 1) his values system, 2) his confidence level and his self esteem if he struggles or 3) his sense of entitlement and possible elitism if he does well. ACSI is too far as I live in the east and the charges for IB are ridiculously high. Thus I am left with VS and TJ. For one reason or another, after O levels, students, if eligible for both schools will choose VS first and those who end up in TJ are those who cannot make it to VS. So I am really expecting my parents, relatives to question my choice of TJ over VS/VJ.
Would appreciate any views that anyone has on this.
