Thanks Tanyo
Hi Lyra
My nipples will feel tender at the first few seconds but after a while, it goes numb. My supply is dropping to nearly zero now and I am trying to maintain it.
Hi Buds
Thanks for being encouraging and that it is possible to still have decent supply. I shall continue trying! By the way are you sahm? i do hope to do tandem feed when my supply is back! -
i have breastfed my girl for 8 months. But since coming to work, supply is lower. I have a few issues, hope the exprerienced mums can advise. (1) Is it safe to give frozen breastmilk? (2) If i supplement with milk power, will it reduce the good effects of breastmilk? (3) How do i supplement with milk powder? (4) Which brand of powder is good?

I was an exclusive pumping mummy and definitely it is safe to feed frozen breast milk taking care on the storage and expiry of the frozen breast milk. Personally I do not think that supplementing with formula milk will reduce the benefits of breast milk, I would say perhaps best of both worlds. Depending on your current supply, you could try to supplement with formula by giving one feed a day or alternating every other feed, no right or wrong. As for brands of formula milk, it is very subjective and individual, some decide based on nutritional values while some cost factor.
Anyway your baby is 8mths old, have you wean her with semi solid? -

It is absolutely safe to give frozen breastmilk. If your mother-in-law is taking care of your child, it will be better for your husband to speak to her about the issue on giving your child frozen breastmilk that has been thawed and warmed. Traditional older folks are not keen on the idea of babies consuming thawed frozen milk.
The good effects of breastmilk will not be compromised if supplement with milk powder.
You can supplement milk powder as and when you feel there is a need. If you have ample supply of frozen breastmilk, you do not need to supplement with milk powder.
The brand of milk powder depends on personal choice. One brand may be good to another but may not be suitable for your child. For example, some brands of milk powder can cause constipation or watery stools in babies. You have to try to find out the effect. -

Would like to ask the mummies here whom bf their kids at 2 years old, does your kid reject meat? As bm is the source of protein, does their body reject another source of protein? My boy will vomit the meat fed to him like 3/4 of the time. This include soup that had been boiled with meat as well. I was wondering if others who extended bf their kids had this problem as well. He is on mostly bm except for some days where a scoop of fm will be mixed into his ebm if ebm is not enough on that day.

hi shin yan my girl doesnt hv this problem. she is one and a half. all along he does this or only recently?

Some children have very keen sense of smell and taste. My mum recalled I complaint about smelly double-boiled soup. My child disliked eggs until I use eggs from local farms in the porridge, albeit slightly more expensive. I have also heard of kids who dislike meat saying that the food smell.
Since your child is two, perhaps you can try to ask him, if not then trial and error, or give other meat such as fish. -
He weaned normally from 6 mths old till around 18 mths old and started rejecting meat from 18 mths old. Now he can only take some fish but also depends on how well cooked is the fish. If there is a fishy smell he will reject it too. I try to give him eggs and tofu as a replacement for now. Thanks for your response.
