2013 P1 Registration Exercise for 2014 In-Take

If the facts are first hand, I would suggest you report it to MOE , than rather posting it unsubstantiated in this forum as rumours.
No point hyping everybody in this forum up because of a rumour ?Oh My Gosh:
Facts are first-hand. But as I said there is no breach in this case, as the principal can say she is the first to put her name on waiting list. My point is just that there is no guideline in allocating seats on waitlist.TheIdler:
Think these kind of cases better not to speculate as we may not have all the facts. May not be fair to the actual child involved. Furthermore, parents who have somehow managed to unfairly find a back door will keep mum about it and not stupidly blurt out to so-called friends and jeopardize their allotment? For the Marine Parade school, if you are very sure you can write to Straits Times forum, i'm sure MOE will conduct an investigation. Although the Principle has discretion, is the system so easily by-passed?
Just my 2-cents.
Facts aside... yes, there are people who will just blurt out - to show off or just to share, I don't know. Didnt the sex-for-grades case leak out because Daphne tell her friend about it too :)? -

According to Moe, \"Places in the school are allocated accordingly to the order of priority laid out in the various phases of the Primary One Registration Exercise. There will be balloting amongst the applicants if the number of applications to a school exceeds the number of vacancies available in any of the phases from Phase 2A(1) to Phase 3.\"
So waitlist has to be after the whole P1 registration. Plus the Marine Parade child has to register somewhere first according to which phase he/she belongs? Cannot just not register n jump to waitlist. -
Oh My Gosh:
But principal can \"play with the loophole\" for students on the waitlist. I know of a real case. This friend of mine, applying for a branded school in Marine Parade. staying more than 2 km, not PV and not even stand a chance to ballot in Phase 2C. But her father in law (i.e. the child's Ah-Gong) knows someone from SHHK. After the P1 registration, when a student withdraw (or whatever reason I dunno), the principal called her up to \"fill\" the empty slot. Although it is unfair as there are other more deserving parents, the principal is not in breach as there is no MOE basis of allocation for those on waiting list.
I have a friend who was balloted out phase 2b n 2c in another good school. But he built a good relation along the way of doing pv, he put on wait list at the very branded school in marine parade though he stays out of 2km n nvr tried that school in all phases. his kids got in shortly after phase 2c execise because of good networking. -
I was one of the parents 1-2km who got ballot out in Fairfield this morning, but i didnt attend it since only 1 vacancy left for 10pax. I just called the sch to check how could we put our kid under waitlist in such case (ballot out in 2B). I was told only we secure a seat in another sch under 2C(aft 2c ends) then we are able to submit wailist form to Fairfield, not possible to do immediately. the lady who spoke to me said impossible thereβs such case happeend as mentioned here. But i urged her to check it out since itβs mentioned here, just to be fair to the rest of us who got ballot out after putting in so much efforts to be under 2B.

EthanEthan:
As I said, there is no breach and is just a simple case of allocation of seats on waiting list at principal's discretion, thus there is no need to report to MOE. Just sharing and I am glad this friend managed to get her child into the school of her choice. Much as she is deemed less deserving in the eyes of PVs and other parents, no matter what, there is no denial that she is like any of us here, doing the best for her childIf the facts are first hand, I would suggest you report it to MOE , than rather posting it unsubstantiated in this forum as rumours.

I think since you have only heard one side of the story, it will be very hard to said she is less deserving than others.

Oh My Gosh:
I just feel after the whole exercise, it is all about \"guan-xi\" as the principal has the discretion to allocate the available vacancies to whoever she or he likes irregardless of PV or distance.
