2013 P1 Registration Exercise for 2014 In-Take

EthanEthan:
As I said, there is no breach and is just a simple case of allocation of seats on waiting list at principal's discretion, thus there is no need to report to MOE. Just sharing and I am glad this friend managed to get her child into the school of her choice. Much as she is deemed less deserving in the eyes of PVs and other parents, no matter what, there is no denial that she is like any of us here, doing the best for her childIf the facts are first hand, I would suggest you report it to MOE , than rather posting it unsubstantiated in this forum as rumours.
No point hyping everybody in this forum up because of a rumour ?

I was one of the parents 1-2km who got ballot out in Fairfield this morning, but i didnt attend it since only 1 vacancy left for 10pax. I just called the sch to check how could we put our kid under waitlist in such case (ballot out in 2B). I was told only we secure a seat in another sch under 2C(aft 2c ends) then we are able to submit wailist form to Fairfield, not possible to do immediately. the lady who spoke to me said impossible there's such case happeend as mentioned here. But i urged her to check it out since it's mentioned here, just to be fair to the rest of us who got ballot out after putting in so much efforts to be under 2B.
best wishes for phase 2C..dont give up!!!

I think since you have only heard one side of the story, it will be very hard to said she is less deserving than others.

Oh My Gosh:
I just feel after the whole exercise, it is all about \"guan-xi\" as the principal has the discretion to allocate the available vacancies to whoever she or he likes irregardless of PV or distance.

No. Even if there are 301 people competing for 300 places, the school will still proceed to ballot one by one until they find the one unlucky enough to be balloted out. There is no compromise.Hi, can I check, if at 2c stage there are say 21 applicants for 20 places, all singletons, will school have to conduct balloting, or is it school's discretion to accept all 21 even though it would bust the max no. of pupils they can accept?
Coz i understand that for cases like mgs' twins at 2b they may just take out one vacancy at 2c and give to te extra 2b kid right? Instead of giving one extra seat?
In the twins situation in MGS and ACSJ, because it happened in Phase 2B and there are still vacancies available in the school, the twins took up an extra vacancy from Phase 2C. If it happened in Phase 2C, the school will have to increase its gross vacancies to accommodate the extra kids. -

This is not \"guan-xi\", ok? This is called recognizing that there are different \"stakeholders\". :siam: -
The thing is I called the school to find out, but the teacher asked for my name (I had to pretend to be her), and also asked for my sonβs name, but I cant give her the full details hence I made an excuse to hang up. So I think good for someone to call and check. Because I did not ballot for this school so I cant provide my sonβs name too. But I wanted to check cos Im really curious how could this happen?

Like that also can meh? If I was in Phase 2C, I would have reason to feel aggrieved. If a ballot had been conducted, the twins would have taken up the extra vacancy from Phase 2C only if theirs was the last ball drawn. In the case of MGS, the chance of that happening is like what? 1 in 40 or 2.5%? :scratchhead:No. Even if there are 301 people competing for 300 places, the school will still proceed to ballot one by one until they find the one unlucky enough to be balloted out.
