2013 P1 Registration Exercise for 2014 In-Take

Good Luck to all parents for Day 2 especially my friends applying for Ngee Ann n Tao Nan.
Was told that ballotting expected in Tao Nan.
So parents considering Tao Nan-please do make your other choice school asap.
Personally for me I would rather take a safer route;I.e. register at a confirmed school rather than take the risk at ballot n not knowing the certainty of the outcome.
All the best! -
Good luck for all the parents register at phase 2c. I go thru this last yrs. not easy job . But 加油!

When 1 km for a very popular school gives better chance of succeeding
than 1-2 km for a popular school …
If you stay within 1 km of School A, maybe have 1 in 3 chances to go in.
If you stay 1-2 km of School B, but balloting possibility for <1km means
zero chances to go into school B (In this case, usually the school will not even let you register)
For this case, need to monitor very closely before and on last day if balloting
will happen for <1 km or if balloting required for 1-2 km (Eg. 20 ppl for 2 places
i.e 1 in 10 chances) for School B. -
Hi,
If I already registered in Poi Ching School via Phase 2B, can I still register under Phase 2C for St Hilda? (I stay within 1km for both school and would wish my child to study in St Hilda instead…we are thinking perhaps can try St Hilda…even if balloting we might have a chance since we are SC too…) Pls advise and thanks… -

Hi ryes,
Are you referring to SMPS? We called SMPS around 4.45pm and were told the number of SC registered, including online application. I think the MOE website includes PR registered. I understand that some PRs have registered at SMPS as at this morning.
By the way, I think the number of applicants within 1km will increase on Day 3. I have a friend and her neighbours who are staying within 1km will only be going on Day 3.
The seats above 2km will be highly contested.
Can u share what she told u abt the sc who applied.
My heart sank reading ur last para. Coz I’m also planning to register
On last day n looks like very few seats will be left for more than 2km.
According to the update at 4.45pm, a total of 72 SC registered, out of which 53 are under 2km. This includes online registration.
MOE updated 85 applicants, the balance number should be made up of PRs.
Yes. I got the same data too as u fr the school.
I sure hope the 85 balance is PR.
Worrying. Don’t know if I have the strength to go thru balloting. -

If I were you, I will not take the risk to withdraw from Poi Ching and to register in 2C for St Hilda's. Why? Your child may end up in the end not being able to study in both schools if you are not balloted in. Stick with Poi Ching. Go to St Hilda's to enquire about transfer in based on waitlist. Good luck.Hi,

Other choice school would mean other schools besides Ngee Ann I guess as Ngee Ann also predicted to have ballotting this year round.Good Luck to all parents for Day 2 especially my friends applying for Ngee Ann n Tao Nan.

Stressful time for parents as both the No 1 and No 2 good schools in Marine Parade are taken up so quickly. :nailbite: -
A piece of advise from my experience. If you really want to go for ballot, you really have to mentally prepare yourself for the worst to go for phase 2CS. Remember if you (touch wood) didn’t get balloted in phase 2C, the schools left for 2CS will be minimal. Not talking about good schools, even those average schools are all being taken up, left with no choice, we have to choose a sch which was far away from our house in a different zone area. Ended up dc has to wake up earlier than others and be the latest to be home on the sch bus!
For those parents going for ballot, remember to have in place a backup plan with a sch that you think you will have a chance to be in without another round of ballot in phase 2CS. -

Thank u so much for you advise. Ohhps I didn’t know need to withdraw first then to register in Phase 2C (my initial thought is can still register in Phase 2C and if selected then withdraw Poi Ching)…hehe…
Becos my child chinese isn’t good scared cant cope with the higher Chinese..so thinking of St Hilda instead..
Once again, thanks for your advise
