It is not so in the past, but as NCPS is ready for single session, it's possible now to arrange P3-5 to have lessons in afternoon.Has anyone read the principal's letter?
Is it a practice that p3-5 attends school from 1-3.30pm during psle exam dates?
Anyone with kids in Polaris planning to switch student care next year to the one in the school?
The NCSCC's intake is priority-based so may not even be considered. In addition, the following are reasons I probably would not consider transferring from Polaris:
- It opens only at 11am and closes at 6.30pm. Means my son has to carry the laundry bag with him for lessons and 6.30pm is a bit rush for me.
- It opens at 7.30am during sch holidays is too late for me. Polaris's 7am is better for me.
- There seems to be a lot of additional charges/fees for school holidays (Polaris only charges $50 extra for entire Jun/Dec), non-school days and etc. It adds up a lot. Wonder how the FAS students can afford.
- Getting to Polaris is also more convenient for me than going into sch via Gate A to fetch my kid.
However, their holiday programs and tuition sounds attractive to me. A plus point is also it's in the sch compound, so safer and no travel to/fro for CCAs/Supp classes. -
English HOD Mrs Simon has left NCPS & Science HOD Ms Yeo has been promoted & transferred to another school. My son was taught by them last year & they were really very good teachers. Hope there is someone good enough & ready to take over such important roles.

Any idea who are the Eng HOD and Sci HOD now. Heard that for one of the P4 Sci teacher is a trainee teacher and some of the students felt that she doesn't really explain the concepts very well. So kinda worried. -

I understand the part on the priority scheme, and i also do not like the part about the operating hours. However, I am wondering if they can pick up their lunch from the centre if the students have remedial classes or CCA. Currently my kids need to buy their own lunch when they have remedial. And Polaris do not send or provide picking up when they attend classes during school holidays.

Do any parents know if the school care center provide lunch for kids enrolled or they have to buy from school stalls on their own?

Hi mummy so kiasu, does NCPS has chess club? It will be great if it does. My DS likes Chess, and I register him in the course out of the school as I was not aware the school has this CCA...
P1 to P2 will remain in the same class. The child can join the chess club when he goes to P3. CCA is for P3 onward. You can buy 2 sets of uniform & 2 to 3 sets of PE attires. P1 & P2 will have PE 3 times a werk.tweety17:
Hi BlueBells,
many thanks for your reply. A few more questions, do the children stay in the same class from P1 to P2? How many PE lessons are there in a week? Can P1 join their chess club?
Thanks in advance for your help....this is my first time sending children to P1
Hence, I am already planning what CCA to join, how many sets of PE attire to buy etc... -

Your kid might be able to join the immediate class instead of beginner class since he is already able to play. However, the school is not very strong in chess.

Great! Thank you :rahrah: -
I went to Nascans.com to check out their webpage. The website didn’t looked very well established, with some remarks that it is still under upgrading, though the credentials and their programmes were well published.
Any parents have more information about this organization?
I am looking for a student care arrangement for my child. From the thread discussions, quite a few parents with kids at Polaris. Could you share your experience (good and not so good) about Polaris? Please pm me if not comfortable to post in the main thread.
With many schools gradually shifting to single session, more and more student care centres are finding it tough to continue sustaining their operation since they will lose the students who used to be in afternoon school session but due to their centre’s space limitation, cannot admit more for the morning school session group.
Student care centre setup by the school should be more "stable" on this aspect.
