My family only goes to the doctor for things like cold/cough/flu when we need an MC. If not, we prefer to self-medicate. Saves time, energy and money. We will see the doctor if we think we need antibiotics as those need a prescription.

As an aside, I recently bought generic paracetamol from Unity at around $3 for 100 tablets! They only expire in 2017.

if it was not because of a referral letter to see a specialist, I will not queue at the polyclinic...I waited 3 hours !!! wait to get a number, wait to see the doctor and wait to get the letter :faint:

unless I am really sick, I will see the GP...waiting to see a polyclinic doctor will make me more sick WAITING.

if you go just before 4pm you will have super fast service, amazing.
If you go at 8am the system is not working, the doctors will take their own sweet time hence you got to wait 4 to 5 hours. Sometimes I wonder are these doctors in the polyclinics all condemned just like those police posted to some remote areas as sentry.

It's so sad that nowadays when you visit aGP and tell them you have flu and fever, they give you Panadol (Panamol), which I can buy in 7-11.

Then what is the point to see a Doctor!!

I think panadol is standard medication for fever be it Polyclinic, GP or Hospital.

However, you can always tell the doctor that you don't need panadol as you have supplies at home.

I always do that n the doc is fine with it.

No lah, not exactly the same as the OTC Panadol. It's other brand(s) of Paracetemol drug...at least in my case... GP knows u r there to see him solely cos of the MC, so usually he will give u the common drug. Mine will ask if I need; if not, just take my MC and scram! :siam:

I agree with you TS. Even when I am ill, i go to the polyclinics, doctors will always prescribe me a huge pack of panadol. Hm… Are we too reliant on panadols?
