Education minister (hsk) said all schools are good, in Singapore.

However, some parents here deem some schools as more popular, & some schools less popular.

Hi mommies, I'm newbie and a foreigner. I have rat-boy and I really wish to find a school for him around Hougang. I know it's difficult for us but kindly you give me some information and advice (which suitable school, even \"bad\" school that my son can join...)

Another question, was there any children who have no school to join in the past? And if had, they had to wait for the next \"competition\", right?

        Thanks in advance!

Is your son a citizen? or will he be in Phase 3? u stay near to these schs in Hougang?

        Holy Innocents’ Primary School
        Hougang Primary School
        Montfort Junior School
        Punggol Primary School
        Xinghua Primary School
        Xinmin Primary School
        Yio Chu Kang Primary School

Wow, thank you very much for your responses, indeed.

My son is in Phase 3 and I really want him to persue his study in Singapore, where there're lots of good schools and has safe environment.

Thanks for your useful information. I'll consider these schools.

You are welcome. Under Phase 3, your child is considered a foreigner and it is important for him to be registered successfully in a primary school that still has vacancies at Phase 3. When your child's results improve and is considered very good, you can consider apply for transfer/waitlist in other primary schools or choose to stay on in the school. I know of a girl from Xinghua Primary School who was from China and managed to score very high marks in her PSLE. She missed by a few marks to enter Nanyang Girls' High and eventually settle down in Dunman High. If your child is willing to work hard, anything is possible. I guess your child is in kindergarten now and you have to build up the child's foundation, especially in Phonics & Reading to strengthen the child's English. Foreigners' children tend to excel in Math, Sci and Chinese.

My child is extremely interested in English but he's not in Singapore yet. I am confusing whether I send him to study at kindergarten right next academic year or not. I dont know if he has any opportunity to be accepted by a kindergarten this time. If has, I guess I'll let him start as soon as possible.

Could you give me some advice?

You can go to register at a kindergarten now and allow him to commence K2 next year. In addition, supplement with home tutoring to let him catch up.

You are a SC, but, what about your child?

How far you stay from the school and whether your child is a SC or not do not determine which phase he will be in. If you are not an alumni, PV or grassroot leader, your child will fall under P2C.

Please click on the url below to access balloting history for schools in Seng Kang:

In short, be prepared for balloting.
