Thanks , I will let my ds know Abu the yr 2 montage.. Then he can look forward to it!! Do they need to pay. .? A pleasant surprised that the year 1 camp is free, and they had buffet dinner on the last day:)[email protected]:
Any comments fr year 1 Ds on the orientation camp?. My son said it was worse than army camp, very rigorous, only given 2 min to shower etc..N those who brought pillow got confiscated.. Haha, the tough training has toughened him up too

it's normal...during my ds time he said the same thing too....but they can look forward to year 2 Malaysian Montage - it's the best (according to my ds) really feel like going for holiday - stay in 4 or 5 star hotel, sight seeing. He even had time to take video of the ostrich farm (I thought it was quite nice and relaxing).
As for year 3 OBS...hmm....gotto see what he says tmr when he returns. -

I thought the Year 1 camp costs $80 which was deducted from Edusave? :scratchhead:

Yes, they need to pay...but subsidized I think...can't remember how much but quite reasonable. But check the validity of your son's passport in Dec. Last year, we ran into some problems as we didnt realise ds passport already expired. Was quite a rush. He submitted later than his classmates but luckily still accepted.

Luckily I didn't ask ds to bring pillowDS's pillow was confiscated
He said that they were given 3 minutes to undress, shower, towel dry and put on clothes.
Mine said his class was only given 30 sec to shower! :scared: And that's only once a day.ngl2010:
Yeah my ds told me the same too.DS said they had to run back and forth from the hall to the field with their backpack and barang-barang at least 5 rounds in order to instill in them sense of urgency. Last week DS said they must stand up and sit down repeatedly if they are not standing up or sitting down fast enough. I think it is good. I support the exercise/penalty for not doing things fast enough. :celebrate:
DS likes the orientation camp. He thinks it is more fun than his P5 camp :boogie: He got to know his classmates better
He said the camp was torturous but fun. These Y1 were drummed repeatedly about the high standards of the school, need to have sense of urgency, etc.. The PLGs also told them a lot of stories about the boarding school :nailbite: ... His only complaint was the food was lousy! Dunno where the $80 that they paid went to. Hahaha.
Btw, I wonder how did those who who bought suitcases run back and forth with their barang barang? :scratchhead: -

Oops..I am so blurred...I happily thought the camp is free..haha

really? like army camp? mine only complained abt the portion of food! he said ration to 1 packet per student, so little, middle of the night stomach growling. Lol... other than that he said was fun, with some degree of toughness. they didnt mention abt the shower part, nor the running back and forth from hall to field. wow it does sound like \"Ah Boys to Men\" but i like it! they only mentioned abt the fun stuffs, crime night, campfire night and how they had to walk blinfolded for 2.5 hours??!!DS's pillow was confiscated

haha mine also got confiscated! plus #2 so smart he brought his mini soft pillow and one soft toy! :nailbite: his elder brother saboed him and told PSL that there was another soft toy inside, despite my #2 insisting he only brought 1! so the senior psl got 3 other PSLs to ransack his whole bag! haha... and in the end found none. when i asked #1, he said he really thought his brother has brought 2.

ok i should ask mine abt all these trainings! No wonder i can see a change in them after the camp! happy to see all the little changed in them. They did tell me the year 1s have been warned that swearing and vulgaraties of any form is not to be tolerated in school and that they are supposed to greet any teacher / adults they see in school. oh no wonder i see all RI boys are so polite. so glad my boys have chosen to come to the right school

Thanks ngl2010. yes the elder one had eye infection. he said he tahan until cannot bear with the pain anymore and told his leaders. I picked him at 9.30am yesterday. and so the brother told him (cos #1 was complaining abt the food) that he missed out on the best meal in the camp, the buffet!
He is ok now, eyes less red. Yes he will be in school today. until now both are still sleeping! so glad the school changed reporting time to 2.30pm. yesterday the first thing both of them did was to catch up on the recording of the last episode of channel 8, 9pm drama. after that they KOed. today i shall ask them more abt their army style trainings  -
