Hi, I have a slightly strange question. My daughter is 4 and on the chunky side. She is not fat, but can tell that she will not be a wispy little thing. Should this affect our decision to enroll her in ballet? Are teachers prejudiced against bigger girls? The last thing I want is for her to have some kind of complex due to unkind people.

I always thought that ballet teachers should be very slim like a ballerina. However, my child's current and past ballet teachers are the big sized types and at times I will wonder how they pass their ballet exams but then, they are good at teaching so the size is not a concern, be it for children or for adults.

Every year, ballet exam is held in April.

For \"Primary\" grade RAD exam, what does it entail ?
          Many dance steps are involved.
The girls need to remember all the steps, well.

The girls normally enter exam room, in small groups of 3.
They are normally in Primary 1. (aged 6+, turning 7)

              Hi,

Anyone knows which ballet school allows parents to be the room or somewhere that i can be visible to my girl? She loves dancing but she has separation anxiety, she will cry if i were to leave her in a new place with strangers.

Joo Chiat CC. Parents are free to sit in. But they do not conduct classes for the really young, ie tots ballet.

Some CC ballet teachers will allow parents to sit in. Those private ones won't allow.

Glissade at Bukit Merah Central allows parents to sit through, at least that's what I see for my 5-year old DD's class on weekdays 😄
