      Hi,

I am due to register primary 1 for my child this July. As I am in phase 2c, I noted there are 3 days for registration. Can we just go any of these 3 days as in the end, if balloting is required, it will not be on a first come first serve right? And balloting happens only after 1 aug?

Also, do you know how long is the registration? We just fill up form and submit? Or need to queue very long? Thanks!

Balloting usually occurs on the date the results are announced. For this year's case, it will be on 01 Aug, not after.

The actual registration takes about five minutes. However, if the school you are applying with is a popular school, you will have to wait for your turn.

Regarding the MMR dose, before year 2011, it is used to be 2 dose but the 2nd dose is taken at P1, not before P1.

As a lot of parents skip MMR due to some theory that MMR may cause autism, gov decided to bring forward the 2nd dose. and thus a lot of kids born before the amended Jab schedule did not take the 2nd MMR dose.
I was advised by the clinic to let my boy take before P1 registration.

              Hi everyone

The school that I wanted to enrol my son in doesn’t has science as a subject. Is it necessary to have science for better future higher level of school? Please advice me. Thank you.

                    P1 : no Science

                    P1 and P2 :
only 3 subjects : English, Maths, Mother Tongue (can be Chinese, Malay, Tamil, Hindi)

P3 : start to introduce a new subject, Science.
Science is a compulsory subject, in all our SG local primary schools.

Yes, Science is an important subject.
Because it build the core basic, fundamental concepts first, taught in primary schools.
Later on when your child move onto Secondary school -
your child will study in greater depth into Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
From here, future engineers (mechanical, civil, structural, chemical, environmental, electrical, electronic engineers), pharmacists, medical health professional, scientists, researchers are groomed.

btw, which school is that you mention that doesn't teach Science ?
( because our local schools teach Science)

Is it an international primary school ?

                      Blur Sze:
Hi, Im new to this, i just have some enquiry due to my scenario:

                      1) Schools within 1 Km: Xinmin Primary- Is this a good school coz its not affiliated to the sec and forum seems to be not so positive on this
                      2) School within 2Km:
                      - Rosyth- good but have chance?
                      - Hougang Primary
                      - Punggol Primary
                      - Yio Chu Kang Primary
                      - Zhonghua
                      - Xinghua
Other than Rosyth, which should be my next choice? As Rosyth is my ideal but I realise I live in a different GRC, even though hubby went to join GRC, letter not valid 😞 so now we do not have back up since this fall through.

Appreciate the recommendation, DD is going to register soon...

                      Thank you.
I think if you live so near Xinmin but is not aware of its reputation as no nonsense then you'd better bring your Rosyth mentality elsewhere

Did you ask this school why don't they offer Science ?

If they don't offer Science -
Then what other subject do they offer instead, to substitute / replace Science ?
