A & B share some beads. If A gives B 1/3 of this share, B would have 70 beads more than A. If A gives B 1/5 of his share, B would have 10 beads more than A. How many beads do A have at first?

1/3 - 1/5 = 2/15


2*2/15 of A’s share = 70-10 (note: after A give to B, diff between them is 2 times the share given as B gain 1 share and A deduct 1 share)

4/15 of A’s share = 60
1/15 of A’s share = 15

A’s share - 15 * 15 = 225

This may seem like the wrong question to post here but looking at the math guru here, I just wanna know anyone know of any particular Heuristic approach to Maths program available or tutor teaching such math that I can enrol my P1 child in? Apparently I m so bad with Math that I think I better get my child some help! Bad maths runs in the family.

This is a popular question for PSLE. There are many types if before-after questions. For this question you must know that the DIFFERENCE is same because \"AN EQUAL number of each type of apples were sold\"

Solution
Before:
Red: 9u
Green: 8u
Total: 17u
17u=204
1u= 12 (This is the difference)

After
Red: 9u
Green=5u
Difference: 9u-5u=4u

Since difference same 4u=12
1u=12/4 = 3

Green apples before: 8u x 12 = 96
Green apples after: 5u x 3 = 15

96-15=81
81 x 2 =162
