I also find the earlier comments in this thread fishy. All posted by newbies.

I have just enrolled my child into the maths class as well. Will update here on the progress in a few months' time.

hey parents! im a recent graduate from rmss(last year after J2 only). uh i created this account to like somehow in a way defend raymond uh. i chanced upon this thread when i googled 'raymond math' to see how hes doing now and i saw the first few posts in the thread that were like OBVIOUSLY not genuine post by genuine parents. raymond have shared with me before that he was a tech student in a uni i forgot lah. and that he was really good in tech stuff, like he created a programme to catch copyrighted stuff and plagiarism. like so i feel hes definitely more then capable to set up few accounts just to up his reputation on a site like this lah. its wrong but its a dog eat dog world. but from first hand experience right, i can understand why some parents pulled their kids out of raymond class. i think i`ll vaguely share a few reasons(in my opinion) why tiredmummy1972 pulled her kid out.

first is that raymond is a VERY VERY VERY loud person. the way he teaches students is definitely not like ur average school teacher. he is caring. he want students to excel. but he doesnt give a shit about ur kids feelings. i was with him for 5 years. and for 5 years he have scolded me many many times.
for example, what he`ll do when you never bring calculator, i`ll quote from memory. \"you are here for maths class, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE WITHOUT A FREAKING CALCULATOR????? PACK YOUR STUFF NOW AND GO HOME! COME BACK ON ANOTHER LESSON WITH YOUR CALCULATOR\" i luckily never tio lah. i only got scolded mildly for small stuff. and your kid`s lesson in raymond really depends on his mood lah. if hes angry he`ll really flip sh*t at you and be damn pissed at small stuff with you. when he`s happy hes really like your best friend or something one. like im serious.
so another quote i remember clearly \"here at raymond, you have to understand why we are so an*l, im here to help you improve your maths. you dont want to improve and you want to waste your parents money? by all means leave. the door is there. i dont want to waste my efforts on students who dont want to help themselves\"
          example 2.
raymond isnt exactly the most moralistic person you`ll ever meet. he can bring the topic of food into maths. somehow sexual stuff also.
he was talking about equations and formula. he said \"maths is all about the flavor. you get the flavor right you wont want to try another flavor ald\" and for the sexual kind, he was teaching this method where you cannot have a number or negative sign in front of an algebraic equation. he said \"this equation must be clean, like a virgin\" so yah, he does get a littl bit overboard bbut i guess he does that only to more mature classes.

and yes i am promoting him but its only because i feel that he really does teach properly. he can teach and he will teach. if you have a really mild child that can take a scolding or 2, i suggest, go to raymond. he`ll really help. and that is only if you, the parent is more open minded about this type of bringing a little bit of sexual jokes into lessons. he definitely wont touch your kid and molest lah. but yah, hes not the most \"clean\" teacher ever, talking about morals and all. after alll its a tuition centre, hes the principal and he does not have MOE to restrict whatever type of language he uses in his lessons.
and lemme just warn you, if your child is a crybaby, DO NO EVER EVER EVER send him/her to raymond. especially if he/she is particularly weak in maths. he`ll scream and shout at you till the maths stuff gets into you.

anyway one last bit. he really is a devoted teacher, not like your ordinary tuition centres. he`ll ask students to come for extra lesson before their test days FOR FREE he will have other teachers helping him coach the students on that particular topic but rest assured they are good too.
just another quote(or warning for your child, hehe) from raymond if you are convinced by me(a student) that hes actually good, \"my working hours are from 9am to 10:30pm, if i think you cannot do, then you stay until 1030 with me i dont mind one, JUST for you\" then he`ll give you the weird face. and yah, if u are not good with punctual fee payments and making ur child arrive on time, beware too.
hope i did well promoting????? HAHA

              Just to share,

I have not tried Raymond’s Math Studio but I have friends’ kids who transferred from other centre to this.
The kids’ opinion of the centre-- Not bad. Also, just before exams, they were allowed/asked to go for extra lessons to prepare them for their examinations, without additional charges.

Horrible. I had sign up my girl from Nov 14.

The teacher basically just rush thru the topics, only 6 weeks had already covered 3 p6 topics. Started another topic before completed the previous one. Feel that is not systematic .

The worst is the school allowed teacher to change schedule and arrange his own make up lesson. After sign up, then realised many lessons reschedule to another weekdays which gave us so much inconvenient, this wasn’t bring up before we sign up. Contacted the admin, they don’t even know or I shld say they don’t bother, just ask me to contact the teacher myself. But after days of waiting still never get reply from the teacher.
Its their fault to change the lesson to weekdays that my dd can’t attend, still want to charge us fees for that missed lesson, until I insist not to pay.

                    Decided to withdraw.

There is no such thing as guaranteed results 100%.

As an educator, we all know that the students have a MAJOR role to play in their own results.

If a child wants to improve, he/she has to take the first step in working hard. Merely 2 hours of tutoring a week won’t change anything.

Bad experience with Raymond Math n Science Studio. Raymond is so rude and arrogant. Treat parents and students with no respect. Poor management too.
