Wah, we have year 5 parent here !
Welcome!
Hi stressy, are you very stress? (looking at your nick)
How is work and stress level in year 5? What type of subject combi she is taking? In year 5, what CCA is she taking? Is it less time involvment of CCA in year 5?
Hi Daisyt
During year 3 & 4 my child took triple science & geo
For year 5 she opted for H2 physics,H2 chem, H2 maths H2 geo
Of cos she is very busy, sleep at 12midnight n wake up.
no worries on her, she handle her work well n manage her time
CCA in CO n lucky only once a week
Now more worry on the 2nd child, year one
still having \"honeymoon\" period[/quote] -
Hi daisyt
yr child in year 4 tis year mus be very stressful bcos they need to reach certain GPA to be promoted to year 5. remember my child told me last year many of schoolmates worried, they even apply to polytechnics n other jcs using their year 1 to 5 results jus in case not being promoted.
Hwever, moderation was done for whole level n everyone successfully promoted. -

I don't see it as a tool to keep e principal's promise. I know they have cases of promotion with conditions if you are in the borderline. There are some conditions the students have to meet in their next year. RV has very high GPA to meet for different levels and the GPA is calculated by taking ALL subjects. This is true as far as now.

Ultimately, it is the A lvl results that we all are looking at to secure a good course and uni. The promise should starts and come from our children, not e principal or school. -

What I mean is, I understand that from the principal’s point of view, he will forsee that IP students will definitely want to "take things easy" (its an IP students thingy) so he will use the high grades GPA promotion criteria to remind students to work hard.
However in any IP schools with a certain level of standard, I am very sure it won’t be easy for the majority to achieve such high gpa, (if everyone can achieve that high gpa outsiders will think the internal course standard is not very rigorous) and on the other hand, the principal can’t be "firing off" students who worked hard and not meet the goal of high gpa. Because the problem lies with the goal, not the students.
so at the end of the day grades are likely to be moderated if too many students did not meet the goal . Similarly the principal wishes to promote as many worthy candidates as possible (so he will give chances to borderline students with conditions attached) and keep the students "motivated" at the same time.
I think you will also see moderation elsewhere in other ip schools.
Of course all the students must work hard, but it’s good to know if a ray of hope exists when one is in a panicking situation.
just my humble opinion
