      What exactly defines mugging?

Mugging is sit alone or together with some friends, wear earphones or chit chat while looking at the book once in a while. If tiring of staring at book play handphone or eat titbits. :scratchhead:

Throw in 'seeping one cup of coffee for five hours' and it's called Starbucking

I didnt know NJC has mugging culture. I thot its VJC that has mugging culture.

My ex colleague tells me that almost everyone stays back in VJC till 9-10pm just to mug including his dd.

Like that every jc also got mugging culture. Whether stay in school or study at home, almost every one is doing it. During my time, we were called \"chow muggers\". :rotflmao:

Eh hello, RJC also had mugging culture ok. HCJC too.

Actually, majority of JC students wld mug till 9-10pm in school or go home to continue mugging. That's the Singapore culture.

But I agree with Skyed that VJ did have (not sure now) a strong arts programme cos of their Theatre Studies and French Lang Elective Prog (Wiki says it's discontinued in 2006). :scratchhead: It has produced a few newsreaders, actresses and hosts over the years if you check the alumni list. Oh plus some Humanities Prog (HCJC also had I think??)...

Being the top angmohish JC in the East, many peranakan or potato kids picked VJ over TJ which is \"less flamboyant\" in that sense (cos it's nestled in Bedok heartland). Many VJ kids were Easterners staying in Good Class Bungalows @ Goodman, Tanan Merah, Siglap, Tg Katong, Katong, Joo Chiat, Upp Changi, MP/St Pat's condos or Still Road/Telok Kurau pte estates.

Not sure after being IP'd if it's still the same Beverly Hills culture like in the 1990s.

Some didnโ€™t appear as muggers because they are the closet muggers

Mugging is staring at the lecture notes, listening to walkman throughout, munching apple chips or Uncle Tobys muesli bars, lovey dovey with puppy love (if any), walking around campus to chill/chitchat with fellow chow muggers, buying Coke from vending machine in canteen, going back to the notes again, twirling the pen back and forth, dropping the pen, picking up the pen and doing some Math sums...

IB is as conventional as A level

                A level is colonial legacy

Are you suggesting try ITE first then go Poly then go uni as a more exciting route? :scratchhead:

wait I'm sorry, how is my post related to ite/poly/uni ?

Well in sg...the norm is A'levels...many of my friends don't even know what is IB, so I don't count it as conventional...

                so any advice?
My parents are away overseas till after JAE so i do need help

What i meant by exciting is the difference between ib and As, it is refreshing.[/quote]It is directly relevant if your endgame is to go to uni. If not why take A levels or IB? A levels offers depth while IB offers breath but like what was said these are conventional stepping stones and may be too boring for your liking. ITE/Poly route may offer a new and exciting perspective route to uni... ๐Ÿ†’

All roads lead to Rome. But in this student's case, he/she needn't back track to ITE route since he/she's attained O Levels. Can consider Poly route if he/she's a non-conformist, followed by overseas uni for 2 yrs or more on mom&dad's budget.

Otherwise, stick to A Levels which he/she thinks is more conventional. Doesn't sound like he/she is mentally geared for unchartered waters.

Appeal for VJC Sci, but 6 points seems a tad high?...Between ACJC & TJC, I'll say pick ACJC (stronger culture & alumni). SJI IB seems a bit iffy at this stage...

How is SAJC? Havenโ€™t seen much discussion on this JC so far.
