wait I'm sorry, how is my post related to ite/poly/uni ?

Well in sg...the norm is A'levels...many of my friends don't even know what is IB, so I don't count it as conventional...

      so any advice?
My parents are away overseas till after JAE so i do need help

What i meant by exciting is the difference between ib and As, it is refreshing.

It is directly relevant if your endgame is to go to uni. If not why take A levels or IB? A levels offers depth while IB offers breath but like what was said these are conventional stepping stones and may be too boring for your liking. ITE/Poly route may offer a new and exciting perspective route to uni... πŸ†’

All roads lead to Rome. But in this student's case, he/she needn't back track to ITE route since he/she's attained O Levels. Can consider Poly route if he/she's a non-conformist, followed by overseas uni for 2 yrs or more on mom&dad's budget.

Otherwise, stick to A Levels which he/she thinks is more conventional. Doesn't sound like he/she is mentally geared for unchartered waters.

Appeal for VJC Sci, but 6 points seems a tad high?...Between ACJC & TJC, I'll say pick ACJC (stronger culture & alumni). SJI IB seems a bit iffy at this stage...
What exactly defines mugging?

Mugging is sit alone or together with some friends, wear earphones or chit chat while looking at the book once in a while. If tiring of staring at book play handphone or eat titbits. :scratchhead:

          :rotflmao: I like your definition!

Mugging is staring at the lecture notes, listening to walkman throughout, munching apple chips or Uncle Tobys muesli bars, lovey dovey with puppy love (if any), walking around campus to chill/chitchat with fellow chow muggers, buying Coke from vending machine in canteen, going back to the notes again, twirling the pen back and forth, dropping the pen, picking up the pen and doing some Math sums...
Walkman - those were the time πŸ˜†

Eh hello, RJC also had mugging culture ok. HCJC too.
I hear from ds that RJ even has something called Mega Mugging Madness.. a few weeks before A levels.. πŸ˜‚

Students staying back in school to mug late can get a good dinner at $1 (?), organized by the wonderful PVs.. πŸ™‚

She and friends ate the leftovers for free. πŸ˜‰
The cost of the dinner was definitely more than $1. The $1 was collected to give an indication as to the number of students who were having dinner, so the organizers could plan future dinners even better. I'm surprised your dd managed to eat the leftovers. The dinners are usually so popular there isn't any leftovers. πŸ™‚

The ambience in the school during the weeks before A levels is very supportive with students coming together to study, parents giving support through activities like this and lots of encouragement from the Year 5s to the Year 6s.
What about sci for me?

                        I got nett of 6 points, 8-2
I wish to appeal for vjc sci
if not I'm deciding between TJC, SJI and ACJC.
I seem to like acjc culture more, but far
TJC is one of the most common schools ppl in my school choose to go, relatively convenient but I'm worried over their slipping performance and the boring culture?
SJI offers the IB which I'm very interested in, but it's a tad far ( nearer than AC) and it's an unconventional route, which I'm not sure if I'm prepared to take..

i would only do ib in acs(i) imo. ib in sji is relatively new while acs(i) has been doing ib for a lot longer. this shows in the results - acs(i) has been consistently dominating ib. however, from your score you might not get into acs(i) (cop 5). as for tjc vs acjc, i think you should choose the one nearer to home. you could try appealing to vjc/acs(i) as well. that's just my advice, ultimately the decision is yours to make

Just to share that SJI IB first batch results are similar to what ACS(I) first batch of results back in 2007, the average back then was also 39.4 though SJI had a higher percentage of 40 points and above of 57.9% vs ACS(I) first batch which was 54.9%

                        http://acs.sch.edu.sg/acs_indep/uploads ... 202008.pdf

                        http://www.sji.edu.sg/news-and-events/n ... ptoh_54016
that's true, but from the sources you linked, acs(i) had around 5x the number of students as sji. regardless, my point was that currently, acs(i) has already established themselves as a powerhouse but sji is still new to the ib scene
