I don’t know about insurance, but 6 week is not an issue (6 week right? Not 6 month which will not be possible without compelling circumstances). Does she not have a regular gynae to advise her? She can make an appointment to see a gynae at KKH though I do not know the waiting time. I think there is pre abortion counselling, so be emotionally and mentally prepared for that. It is better to have a professional discuss the options with her.

Maybe other forummers can advise some motherly older gynaes for her consideration.

Its 6 week only, how much would it cost and number of days rest required? Please suggest any gynae.

Many gynae clinics (even those in shopping centers) are equipped to do abortion, but there is mandatory counseling and cooling-off period of i think 2 days. But for 3rd child and later, think it's less stringent.

Not sure about cost and rest, but the patient only needs to rest in holding area for maybe a few hours, but being allowed to go off herself.

And if she's not a first-time mother, then surely should have a gynae. It is much better to go back to the familiar gynae.

SIL has the same situation as yr fren. 3rd one came unexpectedly when she was 42 and decided to opt for abortion as the age gap for her 2 older children were too wide. Went with Dr Theresa Cheng @ Theresa Women's Clinic at AMK. Not able to claim from insurance as advised by clinic and total package was abt $1500 range.

atrecord was right that it involved counseling and the operation was a day surgery within the clinic and thereafter resting at the holding area for next 2-3 hrs before leaving.

Why want to abort a life, whose heartbeat already beating ?

              Abortion means murder !!!
because the child already been formed in the womb.
Have eye socket, nose, ears, brain, heart, fists, legs, stomach, intestine, heart organ

God gave you a gift, yet mother want to murder ?
              Thou shall not murder
So many childless couple want to conceive, fail to do so

My colleague also did it as she didn’t want her 3rd one. Heard it was around $1-2k for D&C with anaesthesia.

As it’s only a 6 week old sac, I guess your friend will be discharged after 3-4 hrs. Day surgery.

Tell her to do a mini-confinement after the procedure.

As others have pointed out, our Singapore Abortion Law act requires that the woman undergo a brief counselling and watch a video.

There is also a mandatory waiting period of 48 hours after the counselling before the procedure can be done. Your friend will have to visit her doctor twice.

No woman wants to abort. They sometimes need to . Why judge?

And please dont equate it to murder. We have a constitution that defines what murder is and \"abortion \" doesn't come under it. It comes under \"rights\" I believe .

That said, kaisuparents, please advise your friend to be emotionally prepared. Family support is crucial during this period.

consider adoption instead. according to Buddhism, abortion creates strong negative karma. the child is here to repay the parents’ kindness or to claim debts. aborting it generates a strong negative affinity between parent and child.

I don’t think the mother asked if she should or not, just where and how much.

OT I think many women aborted during the seventies when the government embarked on population control policy. Even now, there are government policies to encourage lower income families to have just two kids with financial aid as incentives.

It is not fair to call them murderers, or to say they should go through the entire pregnancy and then give up the child for adoption to strangers.

This is such a personal choice. Let’s leave it as that.
