I’m one of the affected parents and quite regretted to put my kid in St Nick IP program and don’t think if we wants to transfer to other school next week MOE will approved. Think they will mark us out already so they can cover their miscalculation! ( I send and pick my kid to school so is very far for me.) MOE is just like LTA never listen to suggestion.

If talk about calculations I think SC parents lugi the most. Got to pay $330++ per month fees for four years vs $300 per year for SN. :moneyflies: SC is in the middle of nowhere with no MRT, so parents either drive their kids to school or take school bus. :slapshead: -

There is nearby MRT, for SCGS students.

SCGS students can go Botanic Gardens MRT (CC19) station, hop onto MRT to Buona Vista MRT (CC22) : only 3 MRT stop on yellow Circle line. 3 station is fast !
even much faster than SNGS / Catholic High students, taking from Bishan MRT station (CC15) : 7 station away, from Buona Vista.

Btw, the new Stevens MRT station (very near to SCGS Sec) on blue Downtown line, is linked to Botanic Gardens MRT (Circle line)
To Reach Mount Sinai : SCGS more convenient, than SNGS students.
Stevens MRT start operation in 2016, around Term 4.

not sure how much variance is the IP program between SCGS vs SNGS/Catholic High, from Y1 to Y4 : since SCGS school fees is $330 per month, vs $28 per month for SNGS
SCGS IP teach more stuff, than SNGS IP stuff, since school fees per month between them, differ by a lot ?
hope the variance not much : since Y5 (2017) they are coming together for their common \"A\" level program at the temp site, graduate in 2018 (first, pioneer batch)
Because if variance in IP program quite a lot eg : in Y3, Y4, then the school that operate at slower pace may have to catch up fair bit (in terms of curriculum / project work), when reach Y5.
Not sure if these 3 schools do regular counter check each Term or monitor each other's IP curriculum taught in terms of academic pace / progress, milestones achieved (if any).
Are each of these 3 schools' IP program, on par with other schools' established IP program like HCI, NJC, VJC, etc ?
This is also one of the concern of the affected parents, since come 2018 : the affected pioneer students are going to sit for the same \"A\" level exam, as those from other IP JCs.
As new JC is government JC : school fees for Y5 / Y6, is affordable -
The MOE letter did not mention any mitigation actions. It just briefly state will look into transport arrangement. We need to know what MOE plan to do for this group of students. What happen if the"soil investigation" failed by the end of 2015??
I don’t agree that 17 years old do not care where is the school. My boy told me that his seniors are very upset about the change in the holding site as distance really matters to them since nowadays the school hours is so long and by the time they reach home, it will be very late.
Also, the issue voice down to Choice. For "O" level students, they have a choice to select a school. So, if they choose a school that is far away from home, they are prepared to travel. However, for IP students, they were informed of the location of the holding site and the new JC and voila… suddenly it now it turns out to be going to Ghim Moh (not sure if the students even have an idea where is this in the first place) and also dunno when the new JC will be ready (well… end 2019 is NOT a confirmed date). But they are stuck with no choice.
Try walking under the hot sun with a heavy school bag… try squeeze with the rest to catch the MRT during peak hours. It may not be only that extra 7 stations from Bishan or 15min walk from BV MRT.
I strongly urge MOE to arrange a conversation with the affected parents and not just send some high-level letter. -
I do agree that arranging a conversation with the affected parents and students is the least MOE could do.

Don’t mean to rub it in…Turn out it is a blessing that some parents like me had rejected to be placed in IP program at Catholic high in fav of the O level track. This despite our boys met the T-score for IP program.

Why are there multiple signatures by one person?

let's hope that PM Lee HL will come to the rescue : at least, switch back to Bishan ITE as temp site.
can understand how the affected students feel, staying in Sengkang, Yishun, etc -

Maybe due to systen lag...not sure if the Admin can remove the duplicates.
