All About Full-Time Maids

My maid keeps short hair. She has her haircut every 2 months. I pay for her haircut. She is happy to keep it short. I’m happy to pay also.

As I do not provide maid with a hair dryer, I often wonder how they dry it each night after washing or do they sleep with damp hair every night.

I do notice my maids spending more time in the bathroom experimenting with different hair styles once they start keeping their hair long. And sometimes I need to replenish my shampoo more frequently.

I also find long strands of hair in food sometimes as compared with short hair.

I provide hair dryer cos she prefer to wash at night.

Be firm. Tell her that she needs to give you time to find a new maid. In the meantime, she needs to make sure that she works as per normal. Any more slacking of pestering, you will send her to the airport directly cos she is in breach of contract.

I have a maid who is now taking care of my 13 mo baby alone. Because of taking care bb, her workload is reduced & I even hire part time nanny to let her clear her housework. Btw, does it still make sense for maids to everyday sweep, mop, clean windows, fold/iron clothes while taking care of bb (need to cook for bb, pat her to sleep, play with her). Or is really too much workload? But I find that once we officially offload them to take care of bb first most of the housework will not be done , either unintentionally or purposely . Any advice?

It depends. In my own home, windows only needs to be cleaned once a month. Only baby laundry needs to be washed daily. Sweep and mop daily. Ironing of clothes twice a week. Folding of clothes whenever there is clean laundry. Bedsheets 2 to 3 weeks. Toilets once a week. Daily dinner for family, meals for baby.

When the baby sleeps in the morning, the maid will do cleaning. When the baby is asleep in the afternoon, she will prepare dinner. Around 4:30pm onwards, she will make dinner while baby plays.

I had similar routine when I was staying at home. So I know it is manageable. If too busy, can postpone things like bedsheets and towels, or washing of toilets.

Straffan23, my maid seems not even able to mop floor everyday cos sometimes my 13mo super active n refuse to stay in the playpen. Basically she mention tough to do work when bb is awake. The routine u mention makes sense to me, but my maid sometimes can’t fullfil . Sigh, also can’t reprimand too much since she takes care of my bb now . Your maid taking care of ur bb too?

Wta: Are Smart Pinoy cards are the cheapest calling cards for Filipino maids to call home?


But the phones must be smart phones? As in all the smart Pinoy sim cards come with data bundles?

My new Filipino maid just arrived and wd like to get her a calling card to call home.
Used to have a Filipino fdw for past 3 years she used a smart phone with smart Pinoy sim card.
Now this new one is using a non-smart phone.
(Let’s see how long it will last)

Not keen for her to ask other maids lest they start teaching her to chut pattern …although it’s only a matter of time, I just wanna make it later rather than sooner
