        Your feedback sure sounds encouraging.

          Hi all,

May I know if the HCL in IP will be tough for a new year 1 kid who takes HCL in primary school but only averages around 70?
My ds also in sec 1 this year. He took HCL in pri sch for P5 and P6, but have always been in the 50s marks. In sch prelim then he managed a 70s. Ever since he started his HCI journey, his love for chinese grew alot and so far still able to cope well. He had also joined the CLEP (Chinese Language Elective Programme).

            Thank you, ellchim.

The Chinese lessons described by Catmoon do sound fun.
I hope my son will be like yours too.
May I know what is this CLEP? As in what are it’s lesson objectives?

              Hi all,

anyone’s DS from Sec 2 who has gone to the Sec 3 updates talk last week? It gives me a feeling that only the Elite students will have more options to consider for next year. ‘Normal’ students do not have much choice though, and for the 3rd yr boarding did I not hear wrongly that they only open to 180 students out of the whole level?

You are welcome dear. He will. 😄
For CLEP, I also not quite sure what they learn, think regarding some chinese literature or stuff 😉 Think they also touched on Journey to the West, 唐诗,金庸, etc. seem quite chim for me (maybe I don't know how to appreciate) but so far I see ds enjoying it.
From my understanding (not sure correct or not), when the kids report for school on day 1, their orientation package will include an option form for this if they had taken HCL for PSLE and passes Chinese with A*.

My boy had applied to 3 schools as he could not decide initially but he got offers from all 3 so he is back to square one. :yikes: 😆 I told him to think about it only after PSLE.
                        Personally, :lovesite:
