      Superstressed:

I don't think the stress will be reduced. If anything, it probably will spike.

      :lovesite:

The stress will come at the Sec 1 Posting application when parents have to decide the ORDER of their choices ........

This is back to the old days --- Some parents with \"higher expectation\" will get a shock when their kids get their bottom few choices instead of the first few choices -- simply because the grade banding does not accurately tell the parents/kids where they are in the cohort.

      Example:
      Boy A gets 3 A* and 1 A and actual T-score = 260
Boy B gets the same but actual T-score = 250

MOE will know the actual score and will place the kids according to the T-scores. But the parents would not know that and may foolishly waste their choices.

So in the end, EVERYONE will be back to the guessing game!

      🤷

Usually hubby don't bother much about kids studies+

        Super busy at work..
But this breaking news make him message me immediately..
        Sigh!!
Son kena 1st batCh.. :yikes: 😓 :gloomy: :stompfeet:
Haiz!! I have no intention for him to join cca until p3,
        But now...?? How!?? What??!
        Haiz
This is definitely bringing more stress,
As i would rather spend the time to build up his reading in both languages,
        As he is very weak,
Rather than spending precious time on CCA!!!
        Haiz!!!

          a)
if the new Banding system follow O level score system, there wont be just single A, anymore.
need to fine tune your single \"A\" into either \"A1\", or \"A2\".

applying the wide Band range of O level score system :
          A1, A2, B3, B4, C5, C6, D7, E8 ... F9 (fail)

roughly, how many A1/A2, must a P6 student achieve, in order to get back the equivalent of old T-score system of 240, 250 and 260 ?

(ie. try to map back the equivalent of old T-score system, vs into the new PSLE Banding range system)

          b)

          one begin to wonder :-
for students coming from affliated schools, believe that respective school board concerned, will discuss with MOE official in greater detail.

will they standardize minus 2 points across the board, for all affliated primary schools to Secondary, or some school board will fight their way very hard for their alumni members, ie. vary their own in-house affliation score point like, +2, +3, +4, up to +5, etc ?

Actually, breaking this down a little:

              1) Are you actually intending to let your kid go in via DSA-CCA in the first place?
              2) If not, then just go the normal PSLE route and get to the relevant school based on results.
              3) If yes, then will need to do the homework & know the pros/ cons of this DSA thingy

Hmm… Won’t everyone be trying to aim for A1, instead of A2? Not unlike the current system, aiming for A*, rather than just A? So how does it reduce stress? Unless there is a change in curriculum, changing the grading system alone does not reduce the stress.

Choosing a primary school becomes the most crucial decision.

If you look at some schools, they have a wide range of CCAs and some special talent programs.
They groom their students in the CCAs, active in competitions and opportunities given to students to participate in various competitions.
More schools will reflect their CCAs achievements from now on.
Schools with affiliation will be in demand because the affiliated secondary school would want to keep these talents.
I feel is like shifting stress from one area to another

Academic enrichment centers will work with non-academic enrichment centers to promote holistic learning, and advertise 'How to groom your child to be a multi-talented special kid' 😂
:moneyflies: for parents. What child subsidies will never be enough

agree with you, soon enrichment centre will start to advertise :
\"now not just good enough to excel academically, but important to be holistically, an all rounder\"

parents need to pump in more $ per child, to tuition Cca, as well

more business opportunity open up for External Cca coacher/ instructor, but also more stress for them

if they fail to train the children in the school up to clinch Gold award at SYF, after 2 or 3 years, school can change them anytime, look for replacement. Hence, more stress for Trainers
