Any Updates As To When PSLE T-Scores Will Be Scrapped?

Ikid:
inside that Cca Handbook -ngl2010:
If each school have haybees and lobsters, wouldn't the lobsters will get all the leadership positions? Then where the haybees learn to be leaders?
Lobsters become school leaders (class monitors, school prefects, student councillors)
Haybees will become leaders of the haybees (subject reps) :rotflmao:
haybee (subject reps) : score how many point ?
school leaders (class monitors, school prefects, student councillors) : score how many point ?
is the difference, small or big ?
is it True that all class monitors automatically become school prefects, once reach P4 ?
are there any class monitors who did not become school prefect ? -
Usually teachers will highly recommend the class monitors to be prefects.

if got balloted by computer to a Secondary school don't like, how ?
Ikid:
It is more likely to use a computerised balloting system to sort students.
If that child was balloted out of his dream school during P1 registration and again in Sec 1 admission, really :stompfeet:
\"how\" lor...
Most likely if balloted out of first choice, will drop into second choice. -

Can be something like the current S1 admission system where the student makes 6 choices after the results are out. But instead of ranking via T-score, rank by bands then ballot like HDB BTO application. -

Wah, \"dumb down\"....用词过重了吧 (this word is too strong)?I don't think this will lead to dumbing-down of our brightest....you say they are \"brightest\".... These \"brightest\" are the top 3-5% cohort, they are self driven and motivated, banding or no banding, I'm sure this group is always and will always be self-driven to achieve their personal best....
So in the name of diversity, we dumb down our brightest while other countries are grooming their best from young. This is what I fear if the bands get too big and we disallow acad DSA in future.
Besides, just like current GEP prog embedded within the few pri schools, sec schools can continue to identify their own cream of crop and can always hv additional in-school special trainings be it acad or leadership.
Will the brightest be short-changed? I think may not be necessarily.... -

Sorry I wasn't clear enough in my post. I was referring to children who are way above my ds in academic abilities; like the top 10-20 in the whole level of 50,000. I'm concerned that these children won't be adequately challenged if they are balloted into any IP schs.

It's at that level I'm saying. Somehow I have assumed that I was clear in my post when I wasn't. -
I think I understand what iRabbit is getting at. Whatever system we implement, we should not go to the extreme....like going in the broad banding direction, while it reduces stress, I hope we are also not over promoting mediocrity. Sometimes in such environment to make everyone less competitive, we may also end up making excellence a taboo to talk about. I would find such an end result very suffocating too as we artificially try to suppress good performance to make everyone feel good about themselves. That, would be a NIGHTMARE to me. :yikes:
MERITOCRACY is still the fundamental principle and truly outstanding performance should still be celebrated without being frown upon or name-calling as elitism. -

I agree. I do not understand why excellent results have to be hush hush. In the past when my kids were in Primary School, I looked forward to reading abt top scorers in Singapore as I find their success stories inspiring n I will encourage my kids to read so that they can their best.
Why do parents whose kids are not in the high ability range feel envious of others who perform better? -
