        Bad news for those eyeing:
Alexandra (up from 25% to 35%)
Henry Park (up from 46% to 53%)
ACS Primary (up from 26% to 31%)

and i thought this year's p1 takeup rate will be lower since the kids belong to the tiger year.

i am surprised too .. i tot there are lesser tiger baby

Hi there; my first time here need as much help with some quick answers pls:

Has TKPS always had a PVS? cos I've called 2 times in the beginning of the year and was told there was no such system, now i checked on the website they do; my daughters K1 teacher also said they had stopped for a few years previously, but now they seem to have opened up; what do i do if they say they have no more room for PV?

what are the chances of her getting to the school?

Note: both parents and child Singaporean and i think we fall under 2c .

Does anyone have a child int he school or any one associated to the school that can shed some light? :nailbite:
looking at the balloting history I think you are quite safe.

Anyway it is too late for you now to do any pv because moe indicates at p2b for pv:

For a child whose parent has joined the primary school as a parent volunteer not later than 1 July 2015 and has given at least 40 hours of voluntary service to the school by 30 June 2016 - See more at: https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/prima ... uJUt0.dpuf

so already over. Unless you are referring to intake for 2018, then yeah still have time to do.
btw, PSG (parent support group) is different from parent volunteer for p1 reg. PSG consists of parents whose kids already in the school.

Alternative (still not too late) is to look at the primary schools u or your hub have studied in - and reg at p2A with the relevant documents (including evidence to show you were from that sch, like psle cert or report card, else quickly go MOE to retrieve these details)

The TUR is indeed lower for a large percentage of schools, including those which are traditionally very hot. The out-liers I listed is only a very small handful of schools. So the Tiger year is still comparatively one of the least competitive years for P1 Registration. Things will be picking up next year, and of course, the following Dragon year babies in 2018!

I'd like to think that since those traditionally hot schools has less people applying in the earlier phases, which in turn translates to more places in the subsequent phase. More parents will want to give these traditionally hot schools a shot. Ends up more people apply.

                    I may be wrong though.

Yes, indeed it is too late to sign up for PV if you are hoping to get priority for next year's P1 registration exercise. But if your child is registering in 2018, then you should continue to keep in touch with the school so that you can apply for PV when it becomes available. The decision to offer PV is primarily the decision of the Principal, and different Principals have different feelings towards the PV scheme. So just keep calling the school.

In any case, if you are staying within 1km of TKPS, you should not have to worry too much. There was only 1 case of balloting in Phase 2C in the last 10 years, and it was only for parents staying beyond 1km.

Your logic is impeccable. It certainly can turn out that way, especially since parents may think that there will always be places in their 2nd choice schools for their children if their bid for their first choice fails. However, many parents are also pragmatic, and the schools would deter parents with no chance from registering if there are just too many.

We can only wait and watch šŸ™‚
