Filipino? or Indonesian?ksagi:
I found a maid ready to join me but asking 650$ a month with 4 sundays off and go home every year. also saying she wants to work in other places on sundays, wants her phone. she has 4 years sg exp good with kids, and cooks well and good at house cleaning.
Is this the current price.. Is this a good deal?
i think 650$ with 4 off days is very steep! im only paying my maid $520 with 4 off days. i suggest you should search for others. just my opinion

Sigh yes agree, now I am making do with part time cleaner and part time baby sitter but it is much more expensive. And house is perpetually messy:(coolit:
I used to have full time maids when my older kids were younger. They were quite responsible. They were from Indo. But after relying on part time help for a while, i decided to get full time again as I had another kid. But I really find the maids nowadays a different breed. They are very thin skin, come here and work but not serious. They keep making mistakes and then when get scolded will get upset. I am really at a loss. Now on my third maid and this is within a span of 2 years. In the past the helpers can work at least 2 years. Should I switch to Pinoys?
Difficult to say, lei... really depends on luck. I had a Pinoy that had work experience in the middle east. But she was often so distracted she totally forgot to feed by baby. A few times! And later on I realized she had the habit of ransacking my things, and finally, she stole from us. And some of them in my area would gather everyday with their dogs and kids and chat very loudly and sounds very vulgar and rough. Long hair, long nails, tank tube, smartphone with blue tooth, etc. Having came from all the maid nonsense, I would say, try very hard to do without them is the best. -

$650 salary is too high. It's over the market price. And maid are not suppose to work at other place, it is moonlighting and illegal for work permit holder to work two job. Please do not allow her to work other places. I only allow my maid to go back after she completed her contract for two years. Maybe you can try out my agency if you are still looking for helper. You can call my agent, Wendee 62684490, she is a great help, my family and relatives took maids from her since many years back.ksagi:

what is the norm agent fees + placement fee these days ?
I found a maid but her agent is charging $1588 before insurance and work permit admin papers and the maid placement fee is $3K !!
all the ++ that is equal to S$5K
i am under the impression there is more transparency now ⦠the fees payable to the agent is only 2 months of their salary (her basis is $600) so i got a shock with i see the final amount -
My got a transfer maid and agent charged me $888 (agent fee) + $321 (insurance) and 7 months advances for the maid loan. Total I paid around $5000. Nowadays, agent anyhow charges and any amount employer paid hardly can recover back if maid no good. Good luck.

after i have a bad experience with one of my ex-helper by paying a high placement fees, i refrain myself from doing it again. hence i look for helpers with decent placement fees ranging about$1000-$2000. -

that is why i refused to do it .. no guarantee high agent fee = quality maid .. even though they claims they screen the maid and they only accept the bestPegMama:
