2017 P1 Registration Exercise for 2018 In-Take

BigMomma:
Thanks phtthp. That answers half of my question. The other half is whether I am able to withdraw (due to unsuccessful outcome) my application and apply to another school instead? All to be done on the same day.
you cannot withdraw your child, right in the middle of a balloting process (while balloting is going on), when the next Phase, P2CSupp, is not even opened for u to register your child, until 8 days later.
(As in last year, 2016 case)
The balloting process -
while is being conducted in the presence of school Principal, P1 registration officers, parents , cannot be dis-rupted.
In the event failed to ballot in at P2C - immediately after balloting process is over, what one can do, is :
proceed to fill up an appeal form, submit to that school which the child had failed to ballot in, stating the reason(s) for appeal.
After filling up Appeal form(s), then wait for the next Phase (2C supp) to open (date is announced on Moe website) to register your child, in the next Phase. -
Got it. So after balloting is over, we can write in to withdraw and immediately go to another school to apply so that we can have time to apply under Phase 2C. Is this correct? Waiting for Phase 2CS would be far too late.

You cannot withdraw from School A on balloting day itself. If you choose to go to School A for Phase 2C balloting, and lose, then you have no choice but to wait for Phase 2CS registration period IF School B still has any vacancies at the last phase.
If School B traditionally does not have seats left at 2CS, then you need to weigh properly which school to apply during Phase 2C itself.
You can't have the best of both worlds... that's why this is so stressful. It's a huge gamble if you choose balloting at School A coz you might not get School A and School B. You would need backup School C (with lots of vacancies at Phase 2CS).
As for phtthp's advice on appeals, most schools only accept case-by-case appeals AFTER Phase 2CS. You may not be able to submit appeals at School A before Phase 2CS is over. And usually before you can appeal, you must have a seat in another school first. That's another story anyway...
Hope this is clear now. In a nutshell, your plan is not allowed. Sorry to be wet blanket. -

Thanks. It's good to get this clarified now. I was reading some old posts and came across a couple studying the odds of balloting before the dad/mom withdraws their application and apply at another school. I am not sure if this is done before balloting or not.BigMomma:

Think you misunderstood phtthp. Her recommendations for appeal only comes AFTER Phase 2CS. You cannot appeal before Phase 2CS is over.

Please also read my amended text above. You’re too fast in your reply… hehehe
As for the old posts, you misunderstood the meaning. Those couples are talking about withdrawing just before 4.30pm on the last day of the Registration. Not balloting day. -

Many thanks. Got it now. I presume that by 2-3 pm on registration day, we should have an idea on our chances for phase 2C. I think this year easily 10-20 more white hairsPlease also read my amended text above. You're too fast in your reply... hehehe

More like 3.30-4.30 pm. For popular schools, you will likely see lots of activities between 4 pm and 4.30 pm. -
qms:
Basically if you don't want the hassle of withdrawing, don't register first. You can just wait until it's about that time slot before you decide which school to register to. But you have to take account on the traffic and the distance between the 2 schools you are monitoring.BigMomma:
