Yes, 43 points difference is a lot, a big margin, between internal Affliated students vs. Outside external P6 students, trying to come in Sec 1.
Let’s wait for Principal of CHIJ Toa Payoh primary, as well as wait for Principal(s) of other schools within the CHIJ family, to announce & to brief parents & the affected students : what is the impact, to the internal Affliation Cut-off-point going to be, for 2019 ?
This reservation of 20% seats, for External Non-Affliated P6 students to enter Sec 1, into each Affliated Secondary school in Sg, will be implemented in 2019, two years down the road, from now (2017). Not so fast -
phtthp:
The huge difference is basically due to the limit seats available after catering to affiliation.Yes, 43 points difference is a lot, a big margin, between internal Affliated students vs. Outside external P6 students, trying to come in.

That is not something new.
I only pity those borderline NA / NT brethren who hv to exit the fraternity. Not all can afford ACS Intl. The ousted may have to go to a secular neighbourhood school. -
Nebbermind:
ok. But if they can meet the affiliation COP, they can stay, like janet's dd.

Nebbermind:
Why ah?! You are affected? :rotflmao:
Donch like that leh. I'm openly hoping the 20% is for the overall school cohort. Come on! HE said 'in every affiliated school'...so as long as the overall number meets the criteria...no?jetsetter:
MP, jedamum: yah, u r right! It's referring to the 20% of the remaining half O level students. MP, can you go sniff out if they've met the 20%?

The reason why many think it's \"guarantee\" is that based on past years' trend, the affiliated schools know the no. of affiliated students meeting the affiliated COP and putting as first choice has always been a comfortable figure. This will still be the came for the majority except for the 6 to 8 affiliated schools ... -

let's see how great is the contrast in school fees charged, between attending local Secondary schools like ACS (Barker) Secondary, vs. International school
Yah lor...the best is yet to be.Nebbermind:
Why not happy?
These boys who are going to benefit from this new requirement will someday become Old Boys themselves...so theoretically, the family grows and there should be more happy old boys....no?
Injecting new blood's for their own good. Otherwise their cohort standard may remain low forever.

seems like Daddy & Mummy need to set aside funds for more than $100, 000 sgd, if want their son to study in an International school (Secondary section), leading to a 4 years' O level programme.
example
a)
for a Singapore Citizenship student, attending a local Secondary school (say, eg: ACS Barker, Secondary), fees charged is $10, per month.
ACS Barker (Secondary) take in her feeder schools' primary school students, from both ACS (primary) + ACS (Junior).
in one year, school fees at a local Secondary school = $10 x 12 months (per year) = $ 120, per year
Total fees charged, for a 4 years' O level Express course, at a local Secondary school =
$120 x 4 years = $ 480 sgd (for 4 years)
$480 : below $ 500

b)
However, at ACS International school , school fees charged : very expensive
for 4 years (O level), Total fees charged :-
$28, 051.50 (@year 1) + $27,570 (@year 2) + $28,101.50 (@year 3) + $ 29,220 (@year 4)
= $ 112, 943 (for 4 years)
wow !
already exceeded $100, 000 sgd
what more, if a student want to study IB Diploma, at ACS International, for another 2 more years, say, in Year 5 & Year 6 ?
source of info, fees charged (from ACS International website)
http://www.acsinternational.com.sg/study/information-for/potential-students/fees/
c)
How about, Hwa Chong (International) school (HCIS) ?
from Year 1 to Year 4, annually : $24, 610
Total, for 4 years (O level course) = $24, 610 x 4 years = $ 98,440
wow !
almost $100, 000 sgd
what more, if a student want to study IB Diploma, at HCIS, for another 2 more years, in Year 5 & Year 6 ?

d)
How about, St Joseph (International) school, (SJI International)?
a bit confusing, not sure how to interpret fee structure.
