For a start, 20% may appear a small percentage. Over the years, going forward into the future, if 20% one day were to increase to a higher percentage, think old boys from ACS won't be happy.

      Why not happy?

These boys who are going to benefit from this new requirement will someday become Old Boys themselves...so theoretically, the family grows and there should be more happy old boys....no?

Yah lor...the best is yet to be.

Injecting new blood's for their own good. Otherwise their cohort standard may remain low forever.

I only pity those borderline NA / NT brethren who hv to exit the fraternity. Not all can afford ACS Intl. The ousted may have to go to a secular neighbourhood school.

I believe they have been taking in kids from outside for the last few years...so those who will be on the bordeline may not be that many.

those from CHIJ will be hit hard. for express stream, 200 is cut off point for affiliated primary as students will other schools need 243 to enter. if the NA cut off point is also raised, the girls from IJ primary will not be able to enter own secondary school too. heng ah! i escaped.

Yes, 43 points difference is a lot, a big margin, between internal Affliated students vs. Outside external P6 students, trying to come in Sec 1.

Let’s wait for Principal of CHIJ Toa Payoh primary, as well as wait for Principal(s) of other schools within the CHIJ family, to announce & to brief parents & the affected students : what is the impact, to the internal Affliation Cut-off-point going to be, for 2019 ?

This reservation of 20% seats, for External Non-Affliated P6 students to enter Sec 1, into each Affliated Secondary school in Sg, will be implemented in 2019, two years down the road, from now (2017). Not so fast

The huge difference is basically due to the limit seats available after catering to affiliation.

ok. But if they can meet the affiliation COP, they can stay, like janet's dd.

MP, jedamum: yah, u r right! It's referring to the 20% of the remaining half O level students. MP, can you go sniff out if they've met the 20%? 😉

Donch like that leh. I'm openly hoping the 20% is for the overall school cohort. Come on! HE said 'in every affiliated school'...so as long as the overall number meets the criteria...no?

Why ah?! You are affected? :rotflmao:
