I see! So my hubby can get the form from them and start filling in the form first, once I reach with the ICs we can submit liao? Are there a lot of fields to fill in the application form?

Yup that’s right. There may be some sort of queue system, so u may need to get a Q number then get the form then spend time filling it up. And yes there are many many fields…make sure u have all the critical info about your child stored somewhere for easy reference. Documents please make 2 photocopies in advance to be safe. Some schools charge u on the spot if you use their office photocopier!

This may be slightly off topic but how is SJIJ compared to ACS? One is Anglican and the other is Methodist. Curriculum wise are they more or less about the same?

SJIJ is Catholic btw. I'm not sure of the differences in curriculum, but for Chinese language, all these 3 schools assume the boys don't speak Mandarin at home. So the lessons and tingxie lists are made simpler & Chinese is promoted in more fun ways, eg. parents are encouraged to use MOE's interactive website xuele.sg together with their boys.

Thanks to everyone who replied! I would have been happy to consider either ACSJ or SJIJ but it is my parents who are very keen to have my son attend ACSP. But since we'd be in Phase 2C, if we were balloted out, I'm trying to figure out where my son would end up--or where would be a good backup school to turn to--for phase 2C supplementary, which I assume would be my only option at that point? I noticed there is a Balestier Hill school in the neighbourhood. Are there any other schools in the surrounding area that anyone might recommend I look into (which would probably have available spots after phase 2C)?

How about Hong Wen? SAP school.

Hong Wen is a SAP school. Since is it popular, will be filled up by end of Phase 2C, won’t be available for P2CS.

For backup schools in P2CS : can refer to past historical trend

Hi there! I'm currently debating (mostly with my parents--ha) about whether to take the risk of moving within 1km of ACSP. My son would be in Phase 2C so I know the chances of getting in are slim. I'm curious, for others who were--or know someone who was--in a similar situation, what happens if your child doesn't get into ACSP but is living in the viscinity? Does MOE assign you to one of the other schools with vacancies in the same district? *Will* there be vacancies in nearby schools? Where do most rejected ACSP applicants end up? Could they be sent to schools quite far away (my son is a SC)?

Thanks so much to anyone with any info you might be able to share!

ETA: If he doesn't get in and I put him on the waitlist to be transferred to ACSP, can this happen at any time (eg., mid-year, as early as P1/P2 even)? What sort of criteria does the school consider for younger transfer students, besides grades and CCAs? Does it make any difference that my brother went to ACS? Or that my daughter attends an affiliated Methodist school? Sorry for the endless questions! 😂
The odds to get a seat in ACSP in Phase 2C is very slim even if you move to within 1km. As someone had mentioned, ACSJ and SJIJ are better bets. Out of those 2, SJIJ will give you better chance if you stay within 1km, but ACS has better progression to affiliated secondary schools even with the 20% vacancy cut. The reason being SJI's COP for feeder schools is relatively higher compared to ACS.

During the registration process, must original NRICs of both parents be required, or certified true copy is acceptable as well? Thanks!

U need both originals to withdraw, and to apply. The school may be willing to give u a Q number/application form if u show them the photocopies first & say the originals are arriving soon…u must present them before the cut-off time though. It has happened before, the school had to lock the door & turn down a latecomer.
