Regarding the consortium, may I assume all the consortiums provide a warm environment and we don't really have to worry or read too much into where they are being assigned? Cheers
Yep! Each consortium has their own group of teachers, who work mostly with students from the same consortium, so they are better able to help each student out more effectively πŸ˜„

Will the child be retain if there is a fail in one of the subjects in year end examination or will he still be allowed to move on to next grade, eg. sec1 to sec 2 or sec 2 to sec 3? Is there anyone who dont make it to Year 5 or JC1?

I have heard that this school has got 1-2 O level classes, but any idea at which level will the boy be put into this class?

              Hi there,

The child will not be retained if he fails a subject. However, assuming the child fails either english or chinese, instead of being promoted, he advances to the next level.(Normally for Eoys the teachers would be lenient and will not fail students. My son never had a classmate that failed any subjects in sec 1 and 2)
In sec 3, if his msg is more than 3, he will be channeled into structured integrated programme. However, chances are if the child fails a subject, he will most likely end up in sip.
In sec 4, most of the students in sip(almost 90%) will end up in 4Q, which are o level classes.
              Hope this helped!

                Hi HCI parents,

Would you know what happens if a child passes all other subjects decently in Sec 1 and 2, but fails Chinese? It happened to me in Sec 1 and 2 when I transitioned from normal Chinese to Higher Chinese.

Do you have any idea what is the difference between \"advance\" and \"promote\" in HCI?

I think β€œadvance” meant that the child did not get well enough to be promoted. If the child is sec1, then it is not as serious. If the child is sec2, β€œadvance” might be a worry as might be ask to go SIP. Maybe can find out more from the form teacher.
