Advise pls - Singaporeans in International School

Hii all ,as you can see my previous post, I was enrolling my son in Marlborough…now in P5. He has been admitted and will be joining in Sept 2014.
My concern is now, have i done the right thing ? Curriculum and school life is easier and relaxing compared to Singapore school.
Here he mixes with chinese kids , but there will be a mix of everything. Has any of you got your child enrolled in a school where there are different nationalities ?
How did your child cope initially ? Please advise , i don’t want to do anything that will make me regret later. -
My girls were in international school overseas for 6 yrs. Before that, they had been in Chinese school, and before that, one of them had been in Australian kindy. They enjoyed it and made many friends of different nationalities. Now they are back in Singapore, they may not have different nationalities in their classes, but they have other races to mingle with. Maybe it’s because of their schools and subject combinations, but they have quite a high proportion of non-Chinese in their classes. I don’t think you need to worry about international school - most kids who are used to an international environment are very race/nationality-blind - I know mine are!
My kids had their more relaxing years when they were younger and now are back in Singapore school (we returned when they were 14 and 16yo). We intentionally brought them back to Singapore because my younger girl needed more challenge and stretching, and even though she is a lot busier and working much harder, she is enjoying it and we are happy to see her stretched. My older girl would probably have found it easier in international school, but we have chosen a less-competitive Singapore school for her, and although she is also working harder than she had to before, she is coping with it and not unhappy. But our main reason for bringing them back to Singapore was that we want them to have Singapore friends and feel that Singapore is home. We reckon they would adjust to any school system as long as we parents are reasonable about expectations. -

My DS is in international school in Singapore. His class comprises of different nationalities. He is the only race of his own kind in his class and so are the rest of his classmates. Great diversity. Children are really races/nationality \"blind\" as what slmkhoo has mentioned. I think it is good for children (i would say anyone) to be exposed to diverse cultures.
I think that the employment opportunities in Singapore will be much limited many years down the road. Our children may have to look out for opportunities outside singapore. Be it for employment or business. I think children with such exposure will prepare them for the international stage later years of their lives. (Just my opinion).
In fact, DH has thought of shifting to JB for malborough if needed or enrol him later as boarder. But that's still a long way to go for me as DS is still very young, we are still keeping our options open.
Malborough is a good school so I wouldn't worry. :celebrate: -
Hi my husband and I have been pondering over this topic about relocating to JB and sending our kids to Marlborough international school Malaysia. We are singaporeans and my hubby said MCM is a good school to send kids to study as the emphasis there is not just academic but on holistic ground preparation. May I know if there are any singaporeans sending your kids to MCM currently. May I know what is your opinion on this. My son will be doing PSLE next yr and dd p4 next year so the plan is to shift over after they complete psle and p4 respectively. Thank u

A lot of primary schools in SG now also focus on holistic overall development, not just only academic.
Why need to go JB for international school, if holistic development is your concern ? -
oh that is not the only concern we intend to relocate there too to get a house in nusajaya. My kids are very reserved and too comfortable within their circle of friends and our intention is to eventually send them abroad for uni studies if opportunity strikes. Here in sg the stress level for them is too high. Is it true international schools esp MCM curriculum and student engagement is good.

Has anyone put their children in Excelsior International School? Am looking for reviews on this school. We are thinking of re locating to live in Iskandar and wanting to enrol the kids (6 and 4 currently in SG church kindergarten) . Marlborough college would be ideal but the cost is too high as we are thinking of having a 3rd child too. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks a lot!

Are International schools in Johor much cheaper?
Aren’t there int schools in Singapore, HCIS, ACSI, SJII that are more convenient ?
