so im considering ejc too, but i heard the ip students can be a little arrogant at times and look down on jae ppl (like me), making many of my schoolmates think that eunoia has a bad culture. im a little wary about eunoia but my seniors say that as long as i mix with the good people, eunoia would be fine for me. but what im scared of is that ip students will have much more advantage over the jae kids because i heard that jae students have to take those leftover ccas because ip students already took their pick since they start school a month earlier than us and i really dont know what to feel about this. but anyways, i have mixed feelings about the school and would appreciate if anyone could advice me about ejc.

I can only speak from my DD class which has a quite a fair bit of JAE students. The class mixes well, both IP and non-IP. Nobody really cares where you came from - their shared aim is just to do their best in everything and collectively set the standards for EJC. In fact, one of my DD best friends is a JAE student from a mainstream school.

As to CCAs, it is certainly untrue that IP students have the first pick and the leftovers are for the the JAEs. I know for a fact that they have not even finalize any CCA selection yet....they are waiting for the JAE students to come in to start the CCA trials ( if any) and to start the selection process as a college.

So please don't listen to rumours...check it out with actual students in the school or with parents that have kids in EJ.

      :goodpost: Same for VJC too.
Good to know. With the targeted JCs having IP and JAE students now, the last thing we want is for the kids to feel left out in the new school. My dd went to RI ytd and she was like they have a special queue for the R family maybe because there are just so many of them.

I think convent girls and boys are generally more affable and down to earth so you should not worry about that too much 😄

Thank you Genevieve08 for sharing your experience from the 1st person perspective. We uncles & aunties are so glad to have a “daughter” like you. Your post really reassures many would be JAE Eunoians.

Pros and Cons of EJC (by a student from EJC):
I think the biggest thing was that because the school was just starting out, there was a lot of trial and error in everything from the programmes to classes to even the uniforms.
Also, not having seniors. It was pretty weird when my friends from other JCs talked to their seniors for advice, we just didn’t have that. We also went to A divs last year with only J1s, with a large portion of students only having done their sport for a couple of months and honestly didn’t do as bad as I thought we would. Our cohort is also pretty small (600~ compared to the 1k plus of other schools) so you get to know everyone quicker.
The biggest hurdle was I faced was the feeling the everyone already knew each other, and they kinda did. During orientation all the IP kids would run off to go find the friends they’ve known for 4 years, or friends they made from other schools during their IP orientation. There’s definitely a bit of segregation at times, but it gets better as both groups interact more. The leadership positions are definitely filled by more IP students but it’s still possible if you’re JAE. (One of of student council Vice Presidents is from CWSS I think)

there are some students having nett 6 putting ejc as 1st choice as well, so theres much to expect when the posting results are out

Why need tuition at sec 1? Think too early.. they have 8 new subjects plus cca... be careful not to overload....

Hi, My DS is in EJC from CHS IP… i think it is natural is the JAE students take a while to mix in considering the 3 IP schools have joint activities since Sec 1, as well as the 1 month long “orientation”, but i think the JC mix the IP and JAE intake very well.

My niece was in the JAE intake of a top JC nearby and basically they divided the IP from the JAE intake…

If you look at the 3 IP schools, basically all 3 schools treated both ip and o level tracks pretty equally and fairly… this trait is bought over to EJC…
