For the dragon year P1 registration, it is very disheartening especially to see children cannot go to the neighbour just 5mins from their house. In the end, they have to travel quite a bit distance to the second nearer school. They have to wake up earlier every morning and create inconvenience to the parents too

PV is the easiest way to get priority queue especially in neighbour schools. I have a colleague commented that where got people go to neighbour school to do PV one?

PV is just 40hours which will take less than 10 days of the leave. It is better than 6 years of inconvenience

Your colleague is either ignorant or out of touch with current demands of P1 placement. It's even more difficult with neighborhood schools especially those surrounded by newly developed/young estate.

Parents whose horse kids are looking to register under 2B PV scheme in 2020 for P1 in 2021, after this year’s Phase 2CS P1 registration is over, start to keep a lookout for PV application opening of your choice schools coz a lot of schools that accept PVs will be starting to take in application eg from Sep 18, Jan 19 etc.

Have some schools already started accepting PV applications even before this? Can advise the rest here if you know.

Hi, I would need some advice. I have 3 children and my eldest girl is now studying at St Margaret’s. My 2nd girl will be registering for Pri 1 in 2020 and we qualify for phase 2B within 1km of St Hilda’s. Would very much like her to study at St Hilda’s given that we are staying at Tampines and I have a son born in 2016. But based on the balloting results for this year, it seems that it is difficult to get in. Not too sure if we should start to apply for PV for other schools in Tampines (eg: Poi Ching 1-2 km).

Good that you ask earlier but if you are not within 1km of these 2 schools you are considering, you likely won't get a chance to ballot. So if within 1km, can try. After dragon, the next most intense competition will be horse. If going by this year's outcome of the competition thus far, with dragon and horse having similar high birth rate, zero chance to even ballot if outside 1km of the school.

Learning from this year’s dragon year registration, if parents are going for balloting especially in 2C should take note that your backup school may not have vacancies left or left with little vacancies in 2CS. Therefore be prepared to ballot again in 2CS.

depending if you’re risk advrse, advice is to go for your 2CS school in 2C if odds are not in your favour.
