Original Title: Failed Maths & Science Subjects

My son has done very badly in his Sec 3 Mid-Year Exam, esp in his core subjects of E. Maths, A. Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

      Can anyone help?

I am not sure if it's too early. But u may want to consider getting a good tutor for your son. Preferably a tutor who can teach all the four subjects.

Some parents think it's alright for the child to do badly for Sec 3. I used to think so, for my girl, which was a bad mistake. This is because the student will be taking O-levels in about a year's time, and everything taught in Sec 3 will be examinable. If he don't get his foundations right, his results will never be good.

For group tuition, u may want to consider:

            For private tuition, can try:

It is definitely a plus if you can find someone who can teach all 4 subjects but the chances is not very high. It might be better to find tutors who specialize as they have more confidence and competence (relatively) in their subject of choice.

                  Badly, as in how badly?

I know of a full-time tutor who specialises in all 4 subjects. I don't suppose he will mind circulating his contact number. But I am not exactly sure if he is still available.

                    Can try calling 8368-2533.

The syllabus for all standards are getting harder. Eg in Pri school now they have some Bio and life sci. For Upper Sec Maths now there even include some finance questions. Even parents who done well in their studies may find them challenging.

No one can help really. One must take the initiative. Ie seek some professional help.
