      Academic Achievements

In the 2016 GCE 'O' Level Examinations, we saw 90.2% of our students from Express stream eligible for a junior college education while 100% were eligible for the polytechnic courses. Our students also performed above the national averages in terms of percentage distinction.
      http://chungchenghighyishun.moe.edu.sg/academia/recognition/academic-achievements

      It's 90.2% not 99%.

Based on the previous COP of 237 for admission to CCHY.. The standard of the school should be able to achieve between 93-95% of students from Express stream eligible for junior college.

For 90.2%, I would think is abit too low

Just take an example from one of the sec sch to make a comparison.
eg. Temasek sec sch with a COP of 231. Their eligibility for JC is 94%.
      http://temaseksec.moe.edu.sg/achievements/academic-results

Meaning that eventhough their COP is lower than CCHY. But their \"end results\" is way much better than CCHY.

Definitely will not recommend cchy. 90.2 % is the best it has performed for the past years. Usually abt 80% plus only though PSLE cut-off is not too low. The "output" does not do credit to the "input" in that sense. Have also listened to the speech of the school rep during open house ( better not say who) and his English is atrocious. Very Singlish. Was rather unpleasantly surprised. Only saving grace is the lake in the school, similar but less impressive than CCHM’s.

My girl joined Chung Cheng High (Yishun) this year after much considerations. So far, she has enjoyed herself and doing pretty well in the school. No regrets at all. Students are generally well behaved and the environment is great!

I guess it boils down to individual as to whether a school is 'good' or 'bad'. Just to share my thoughts on CCHY

          :thankyou:

Hi, may i ask if Chung Cheng High (Yishun) students have an advantage should they progress to Nanyang JC? They get to minus 2 points?? Thanks.

              Yes, correct

Both Chung Cheng, Main and Yishun branches, are affliated to Nanyang Junior College, so have bonus minus 2 points, from L1R5 score, if want to enter NYJC

Chung Cheng High (Yishun) will be getting a very experienced principal in Dec 2018.

He is Mr Tan Yee Kan.

Background of Mr Tan Yee Kan:
Mr Tan Yee Kan joined the Yishun Town Sec Sch (YTSS) in December 2005 as the fourth Principal of YTSS and it was also then that YTSS was temporarily relocated to a holding campus in Sembawang for a period of 2 years while the Yishun campus began reconstruction under the Ministry of Education’s Programme for Rebuilding and Improving Existing Schools (PRIME). YTSS moved back to its Yishun campus following the completion of PRIME upgrading in December 2007 and launched the 2008 academic year in the newly upgraded school campus. There were several new additions to the facilities, including an indoor sports hall, an air-conditioned multi-purpose hall and two lecture theatres. YTSS embarked on new frontiers by being awarded the Best Practice Award for Teaching & Learning and the Singapore Quality Class in 2009. In 2010, YTSS was accorded the Autonomous Status.
All the above were achieved under Mr Tan’s leadership.

He moved on to Nan Chiau High School and lead from 2011–2018.

Nan Chiau High geared up to become the 11th school under the Special Assistance Plan (SAP) under the leadership of its principal Tan Yee Kan. (In November 2010, Nan Chiau High School was announced by the Ministry of Education to become the 11th Special Assistance Plan (SAP) school from January 2012.)

Mr Tan Yee Kan will be coming to Chung Cheng High (Yishun) to lead from Dec 2018 and I’m sure something big is coming up under his leadership at Chung Cheng High (Yishun). Will it become the next autonomous or SAP school in the North? Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

                      Indeed, a very experienced principal.
