I enrolled my son at CCE in Bishan last December. I think it’s a great investment especially if you want your child to improve in school. While studying "suggested answer keys" works for some kids, I feel like it’s rote learning. CCE emphasizes how understanding concepts is more important than just learning by memorization. I myself am not a fan of rote learning. Instead of learning to apply the concepts beyond the classroom, students only learn what they need to score well in exams.

Hello! Section B is really tough. I am considering maths heuristic section B class or CCE for the holiday break. I am seriously considering either one but if someone could give me feedback on how the classes helped their kids, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

I just got to know about CCE. It looks interesting, but it’s only 3 days. Does the CCE teach textbook concepts only? How are the activities like? experiments? Any parent whose child has been through can share more? When is the best time to attend it? my thinking is end of the year is better as it will revise the whole year’s work? Most importantly, can it help push grades to A*? I saw most of the improvements were within an A grade.

A is quite manageable.. those last few marks in search for A* is quite a pain...

i think the classes teach general concepts to cover as many points in an answer to score as many marks .. those work only if the kids really stick to it and understand how to apply the topics properly. some topics are interlinked or can be confused easily. i think heat or energy is 1 of it..

Based on what I heard, I don't think it points to a general revision. I think it's more of teaching students the proper skills and mindset.

I came across a forum with not so good reviews about attending tuition and enrichment classes. But I’ve also heard stories of how tuition helped their kids, so I decided to give it a try. At first, my son was hesitant because it’ll mean more work. But seeing how he’s improved in school, I’ll say sending your kid to tuition is worth trying.

I think you should definitely at least give it a try for some time, especially if you are doubting if you should do it or not. From my personal experience, tuition really helped my kid with mathematics significantly and I know some other parents in class were satisfied how tuition helped their kids with some other fields of studies.

Of course this can depend on a lot of factor, but sometimes some kids just can’t connect with particular teacher, or the teacher himself doesn’t reflect the knowledge well or evenly to every kid.

Yes, should send for tuition if the kids cannot cope well with school's teaching pace, unless the school teachers and/or parents can help. The kids will be demoralised if not on track.
