Depending on exactly where in Bedok... but 6 is about right. Bus 48 takes you to Bras Basah. You can then take MRT to Tan Kah Kee (right on school's doorstep).doodbug:
I don't know why but my son always wants to be in school early! between 645 and 7 am. So though we don't live that far away, we also end up leaving the house before 6.30am
If I live in bedok, I think have to leave at 6am.
Take note - coming home can be a little more challenging after CCA - clashes with 6pm office rush.
Weigh all your options... wish you all the best!! -

I see a \"key\" in your text - \"he wanted to join\".Dear all,
I have a son that tell me wanted to join Hwa Chong next year. I am worried whether he can cope with it or not. I don't think I can help him in his study.
He scores 261 + 2 in his PSLE. Hope someone can enlighten me on this. Actually, I prefer RV as I think it might be less stressful.
Thanks.
Very worry mum.
Ours the same case... we were very unsure. BUT walked through pros and cons (example \"distance\" etc etc).
He wanted it, and now is enjoying school life.
So, have peace.
All the best. -

Hi, this is what I heard fm the VP (4 years ago l) during his meeting with parents f successful DSA students. DSA boys (sports, acad etc) with v high PSLE scores will be given a choice to join iSpark with the GEP boys.hazeline:
Anyone knows what's the psle COP for the last few years for entering iSpark? Thanks in advance
I don't think the placement into ispark consortium is based on PSLE COP. Those in the GEP program in primary school will be placed into iSpark. As for mainstreamers placed into iSpark, this is based on assessment during DSA time, and possibly PSLE results to a smaller extent.
Hope the info is useful. -
Ic. So I guess non-GEP and no DSA students will not get to be streamed into Ispark. Thanks all for your reply!

School bookshop only accepts cash when buying textbooks? And I buy uniform from the same bookshop?
I read that the HCI bookshop is actually a Popular outlet? Wonder if I can use other payment methods eg. credit card, popular vouchers etc?
[Update: I called Popular HCI to ask. They accept popular vouchers. So parents with extra vouchers can utilise it to buy uniform or textbooks there.] -
Speaking of which, not sure whether practice this is still allowed, but if your DS if definitely going to be posted to HCI (DSA CO and accepted), I'd recommend purchasing books and uniform before Sec 1 Registration Day to avoid the queues and save some hassle. Then all you'd need to do during Registration Day itself is basically show face and then can go home

imo best check with the school if they still allow non-students (for now) and parents into the school -

They do allow non-students and parents into the school compound. if walking in, u need a valid ID as it is scanned at the entrance. The bookshop is geared up for the DSA crowd. Credit card and Popular membership all can be used but not further discount uniforms and supplies.Speaking of which, not sure whether practice this is still allowed, but if your DS if definitely going to be posted to HCI (DSA CO and accepted), I'd recommend purchasing books and uniform before Sec 1 Registration Day to avoid the queues and save some hassle. Can I ask the parents with Sec 1 DSA kids, is registration day just show face to do admin work and thereafter be done? I know it was so with the ex-P but not sure if same with current P. -

That was the case last year. If you have already purchased the books and uniform, then just report attendance on that day. You will be given a file with admin forms and info about the orientation week. You’ll also receive details of your third lang choice. For those DSA non-gep students posted to iSpark, there was a short brief on that day too.

Hi may I know usually when will the secondary one orientation be held? Would it be before school commences on 2nd Jan or after?
Would it be advisable to purchase the books and uniforms in advance? Any house t shirt/consortium shirt to purchase? Thanks
